Pressure washers; pro and con

Post by Rusted Iron » Wed Aug 12, 2015 7:50 pm

The burn is weeks away and I'm think of clean up? What a ridiculous brain I have.

There is a reason for the thoughts, though. This year we are taking an almost new travel trailer rather than sleeping in the crusty old cargo hauler. A friend offered the use of his pressure washer on the way back.

I have read contradictory info on pressure washers: either wash the rig really good with one or avoid them because they will cause more harm than good. (Oxidation? I don't know)

Opinions? Knowledge?

Thanks.

It depends on the size of the pressure washer you are using. Big gasoline motor ones can do a lot of damage in unskilled hands. Most electric ones are more foolproof, but less effective on really tough jobs.

What you need to avoid is all seams. Around the windows, all the hatches, and all body seams. You don't want to force water through them. Stick-built RVs are all going to leak and rot, you don't want to help speed up the process.
