Good Afternoon Bar Folk.
Having a mini plague of enormous grasshoppers here in west Texas....and they showed up at the same time the annual cricket infestation did this year.
I came "this close" to plopping my not-quite-awake-yet-boxer-shorted-ass down on a grasshopper with a full fresh mug of coffee this morning on my porch....
Just one more reason it's time to get out of town!!

Preparations are now in "late-nighter" gear. Been working on the bus in the front yard all day.
Just now a neighbor brought me a very nice home-grilled hamburger with Everything -- having not noticed me take much in the way of breaks today. That's not actually true -- I've even been to Lakeport for parts -- but I have been a bit "short" with all the kids coming over to ride bicycles, so that probably told them I am busy.

Of course, it is a very good kind of busy.

*goes back out, chewing the last bite of the burger*

*sound of electric drill rises in the distance*

Tomorrow is clear liquid day, topped with a gallon of sludge. A lemon flavoring packet? How thoughtful.

Friday is Lookielookie day. Oh joy. But honestly, being 11 years out, I don't mind much. We'll see how I feel in 24 hours though.

Well, Burning Man was mentioned in this morning's Wall Street Journal. They had a front-page article on Emperor Norton I (and they never even mentioned that an E Clampus Vitus chapter was named after him) and quoted John Law. I'm not so sure what Law's early help bringing Burning Man to life has anything to do with Emperor Norton, but I guess the WSJ did. And for those of you ignorant enough not to know who Emperor Norton was (and any self-respecting San Franciscan certainly should know) you can Google it.

My youngest daughter Joelle, who is a theatre major at USC, just got a call-back for a second audition and reading with the directors of a Top 10 show on network TV. Actually two different auditions tomorrow in Burbank for two different roles. The odds are pretty good she may well land one of the roles. If she does, I'll be even more insufferable than I am now, and that's saying something. And she can pay her own damn tuition at USC.

Oh, and Yggy, she's still sorry about clobbering Clyde...
