i feel like a lot of men costume up in military gear (army and sailor fits) but dont face persecution of impersonating military personnel
can a pig outfit be a heckle free costume? or is it punishable police impersonation?? maybe theyll (LEOs) turn a blind eye if i have a shiny plastic badge on my belt
asking for a friend

Heck, as a retired peace officer, I still have a navy blue t-shirt with POLICE in reflective letters on the back and a reflective badge on the front. I don't wear it anywhere now because there is the inevitable copper out there who is an asshole without a sense of humor.

On the other hand, I have seen black t-shirts with POLITE emblazoned in large letters on the back, which on first glance, looks like POLICE. That would be a good trick to pull on folks.

As former LE's have said, the K-9's can be taught to "detect" on command, thus making a search very easy.
(also, some interesting cases about how long one submits to being "detained until K-9 comes", worth research if one is interested...(hint: it's not a long amount of time!)

This story of false positives reminds me of a story from the days of the Berlin Wall coming down. The West Berliners were horrified when the Stazi or East Berlin military said they were going to euthenize all the German Shepard dogs guarding the border. The West Berliners said, "No, we will find homes for them." Turns out, the dogs had never been trained for attack and were very sweet. All about the look, the outfit,,,,(hmmm, is my BM costume ready yet??)

I'll bet that everyone attending the burn will have some sort of camera--either smart phone are real camera.

If you see a heavy police activity that you feel might be a bit heavy handed, safely take photos.
This may just be an epic year, and your photos will be invaluable.

Step 1 - Be polite. Using the phrase "imperialist pig" during the encounter is a bad idea.

(note to self - do not forget to trademark "Imperialist Pig" for new line of gourmet bacon.)
I like eggs.
