Recommendation: Trello for my packing list
Hey -
Trello is usually a project management tool, I use it a lot to organize my ideas for tasks and effort. It's basically a souped up drag-and-drop list tool where you can tag, label, add due dates, comments, descriptions to different items.
Being a first timer burner and extremely overwhelmed about what to bring, I'm starting to organize myself on Trello:

For anyone looking for things - I've obsessively researched a lot of the things I'm buying/ordering and put Amazon and Walmart links and prices into the cards.
For anyone willing to look this over and give me advice - I would be extremely grateful!!!

Re: Recommendation: Trello for my packing list
From a quick glance, it looks pretty good two me. Two comments:
Mallets, hammers, and sledges are all different things. I do not recommend trying to drive rebar with a hammer.
You have lots of earplugs on the list. If they are individually wrapped, you have the potential to be making a lot of friends by gifting people the ability to sleep. Still, I have found that one quality pair of earplugs is worth far more than 5 lbs of cheap foams earplugs.

When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Thanks!
The earplugs are fine for me - I'm pretty sure they're the ones I used to wear at oil refineries, I haven't had a problem. (I'm already a ridiculously heavy sleeper, with 2 roommates WAYY into EDM at all hours of the night.) I figure the cost between the packs wasn't much so why not get enough to share.
Also - good tip on the hammer. This is a 3-lb one that Twin City Surplus in Reno suggested to use on rebar in the playa. I just took them at their word, do you suggest another one?

You might want to look at lag screws instead of rebar or stakes. I'll never go back! Zip em in, and zip em out. Tenacious hold and no exposed head to cut passing feet or worse.
Lag screws for the win!

Re: Recommendation: Trello for my packing list
Interesting. Not familiar with lag screws but a quick search just showed me what appears to be a much larger version of a regular screw, about the same thickness as rebar. Is that correct?
2 questions:
1) They seem to be shorter(under 8" mostly). Are they made longer or is that length OK for the playa?
2) "Zip in, zip out" - this may be a dumb one but I'm guessing this requires an electric/battery drill?

Lag screws in the range of 14 inches overall length are about perfect for the playa. Less than 12 inches wont work well at all. Under 10 inches... Fuggetaboutit.epiazza wrote: 2 questions:

Installation is optimal via an electric impact wrench. A cheapie ($50 at harbor freight) will do nicely.
Google around eplaya a bit and you will find several threads relating to this methodology.

I'd recommend doing some simple searches and find the checklists from experienced users who've posted theirs. Copy and modify to fit your burn plans.

Yes, that is what I did. I think mine is mostly complete. I was posting more to recommend a tool I use to get organized, in the hopes it may help someone else too.
