Solenoid question

I have found that my 12 VDC solenoid valve that I purchased from a burner propane arts supply company intermittently doesn't open, leading me to check my electrical connections. They are all solid. When I disconnect the high pressure system from the valve, then it gives the tell tale click and works again. Not every time does this occur. I have a gauge in line and am not exceeding the 145 psi rating by a long shot. Any ideas out there for trouble shooting my poofer?

Are you saying a burner specd the combination of valve and solenoid? ..... Either more lubrication or more power or you have an out of mechanical fit quality range valve.

Either flow direction or to much pressure. Some high pressure valves will open in "stages" to allow a pressure drop for the main valve to open.

Remove then adjust and lube the solenoid part. I've had this issue on my valves before. Try taking the nut off the probably black plastic cover over and remove the whole piece form the valve. Look for marks, damage, etc and replace if necessary. If not try spraying with a bit of dry lube and reassemble. Try to keep the solenoid centered on the bolt/nut so it won't get hung up or scrape on a side.

Meh, my explanation sucks. There is probably a nut that allow you to remove the electrical part fro the valve. Remove that part, inspect, lube, and reassemble being careful not to allow any binding.

What pressure is your regulator set at?

What the dr said - if your applying pressure outside of the specifications then the solenoids electromagnet cannot overcome it. Also, if it is a cryogenic fluid like propane, LNG etc you may also be out of spec a the case can shrink. Any residual water would also freeze as well causing issues.

Last - check voltage as well. You need to stay in range for it to work as specified.
