UPS / USPS issue

Post by crease » Tue Aug 18, 2015 5:16 am

Ive made some orders off Ebay and shipped them to the UPS store in Keystone Ave to collect when I fly in next week. However Ive just discovered that USPS isnt the same as UPS! Does anyone local know if they will accept and hold another carriers items? I have sent an email to notify them about it but havent received anything back yet. Hoping someone on here might be able to confirm?

The usual practice at UPS Stores is that they accept deliveries from any carrier, in any name.
No prior arrangement necessary.
Usually a $5 fee per package. (I haven't confirmed that is the still the price this year)

Since you're flying in, remember that they can also ship things back home for you after the Burn. Not as cheap as getting it shipped to Keystone (as you likely don't have a discount shipping account with them), but they'll do it.
You can also ship home using USPS too; can be a fraction of the cost of other carriers.

For those items and for items you're flying in with, shipping things home is often cheaper than airline fees.

(Some UPS Stores will also let you ship-out using any carrier. I don't know the policy on this for any of the Reno locations.
So if your work has a discount shipping account with __________, get the number. The one I use (near home) has a daily USPS pickup; but the store does huge volume.)

That's one word I regret googling during breakfast.
.
Video games are giving kids unrealistic expectations on how many swords they can carry.
.
, but don't harm the red dragon that frequents the area from time to time. He and I have an agreement.

Last year they asked for a donation which I was glad to give. Very burner friendly.

Edit to add they do not have the space/ like to hold packages for very long.
Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

I just called them. They *prefer* to have Burning Man items marked "Burning Man" and if they're not, they throw them in another pile that they will sort through when you arrive. They charge a "pickup fee" per package and said they accept packages from all major carriers (Fedex,USPS, etc.)

edit: I asked them if there were holding anything for "crease" and they said no. I'm guessing that's not your default name

Hey Joe, that was nice of you to do that, thanks! And no thats not my real name, its Chris!
Finally managed to make contact with them, nice bunch of people. So they will pretty much hold any carrier and as you say they prefer it to be labelled Hold for Burner/customer which I didnt have labelled on the packages but they said that should be fine anyway.
