THEME FOR 2005

Post by Killbuck » Fri Nov 19, 2004 8:14 pm

Over the last few festivals, I have wondered just when the theme is to be released for the year. It slipped out fairly early in 2003 before official announcement, but I'm wondering... Any way of getting the inside scoop?

Anyone in the know? Anyone want to start a great rumor?

What theme would you like to see for 2005?

But, Dahlink, what ARE the basics?

I have my ideas, and would these meet with the ideas of others?

As for me, the core is the opportunity to turn everything into some sort of artistic expresssion or event, regardless of how mundane, and to do so in ways that have little to no limits, except those I impose upon myself. And in an accepting, encouraging environment. My deal- pedestrian art- where the pedestrian IS the art- fantastical costuming and art masks that are both costume and sculture.

As a kid, I always wanted to visit inside a Salvador Dali painting, and Burning Man gives me the closest opportunity.

Hmmmm

Post by Killbuck » Sat Nov 20, 2004 4:30 pm

I sorta like "Underworlds" which would open up many great possibilties, including the realm of the dead. Sorta reminds me of one of my all time favorite music outfits- "Dead Can Dance." Ever heard of them?

Dark Suff, Condi and Donald

Post by Killbuck » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:35 pm

Madmatt- Sonic-

Wudya say we send this in, if the poobahs have not yet fixed their sights on a theme?

Madmatt- Ooh, dark stuff... don't let Death Guild get too mucha this!

Speaking of the dark side, I'm getting fan mail from Condi and Rumsfeld wanting to join up with APOKILIPTIKA in 2005- fitting. Hmmm... only if Condi brings her grand piano, and Donald floats us couple cruise missles for our Missile Artillery Corps... then they can party all they want. Still not sure we will find em after the burn... Oh well.

"Underworlds" is cool! "Underworlds & Unlife" would be a good and dark combination. (Maybe I have been hanging around on a certain zombie-survival-horror roleplaying game web site too much lately, but the idea really appeals to me!)

I'll go for it

Post by Killbuck » Sat Nov 20, 2004 8:13 pm

Ok, I'll hit the contacts and see if I can get this one in, if it is not too late, at least for 06, if not 05.

My next runners up for a BM theme included:

"Trouble in Toon Town"
"Genitals of the Universe"
and lastly, the really scary one-
"Bush's Second Term"

4AD...

After Garden of the Arcane Delights I kind of lost interest... but that EP was classic.

In any case, I just hope the theme is something inspiring...

Well, yeah, but only a request. Think of it as a Chirstmas gift; and a very nice one too, especially compared to what Liz 'gifted' us the other day... And really, if I do it, people will only snort. And think of the fan-mail you'll receive! Ok, half will be from CowboyAngel, but you can just delete those ;)

i heard the rumor about a spirituality theme immediately upon leaving bm 2002. i thought 'neat', though one of my compadres said 'yuck'. then i thought i detected some kind of aristotlesque elements rotation going on (spirit = fire, floating world = water, etc.), so the space thing (ether) seemed appropriate. this year i thought 'how about the inner world?'. and so, i'm rooting for that, whatever the hell that might be. 'dreams' sounds pretty cool, but what do i know?
