bag o' crickets. new from Ronco! loads of fun, hours of entertainment! attract fish, clean up that lingering garden, scare your friends.

anxiety... nah, pure avoidance at this point. I'm paralyzed, and wander from box to box and can't get any traction. Collecting music seems a priority and that's no bueno. Still a lot has been accomplished.

three days off (regular days off) today tomorrow and Wed. , working Thurs. and Friday. Heading out Friday night.

Bin, yes, I believe will be a big presence this year.

10:00... I've just come in from working on stuff to get the truck ready, as usual lately. My job starts at 6:00 AM every weekday, so this shit is killing me.
I think I remember something about this is supposed to be "fun".

Meanwhile, here in Northern Canukistan, I am still in a mode that thinks it's perfectly ok to throw more stuff at a suitcase that is already overflowing instead of actually figuring out how to close it.

Tomorrow is last chance culling day for me. Wish me luck at begging half the day off.

Sadie, my dear friend, let me tell you a magical story of life in Black Rock City.

In 2009, I was camping with my friends at Rue Morgue - Gothalot, Ranger Skirblah, Mitzo, Butterfly Lisa, iRONic, Rune, and Leo.....we had a grand year. Gothalot had entrusted me to do the final LNT for the camp, which was located on the 9:00 plaza. Rune and Leo were to stay with me to finish the job. Both of these fine ladies were concerned about the amount of time it was going to take, as they had to take their RV back to Reno and catch their homeward flight to Germany.

I told them it wouldn't take long if we worked together as a team. I told them the story of "The Replacements", a film in which a haphazard team of replacement football players is forged together by their coach and circumstance into a team capable of winning a playoff berth. They came together as a TEAM, the team made it to the playoffs. They first come together as a team in a jail holding cell, and end up as a group dancing the electric slide to Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive".

To make a long story short, Rune, Leo and I completed the LNT in 20 minutes, far less than the 3 hours they thought it would take to do the job. We hugged with our teary good byes, and they drove off into the sunset. I stood for a moment, and was about to hop in the truck and go, but across the 9:00 plaza, Planet Earth Disco was still playin' the hits. What should come on next, but Gloria Gaynor's tune, "I Will Survive".

I listened a minute, and then began to do the only appropriate thing left for me to do:

I danced the electric slide, in the dust of the Black Rock Desert playa.

The memory of it all still stands out in my mind as one of my all time Burningman moments, and the one time I've done a line dance. All alone.
