Rumors
The current rumor is that Burning Man is moving to Utah because Nevada is going to impose an entertainment tax. Any confirmations on that? If so, about where will the event be held in the state? Do they intend to raise the attendence cap beyond 60,000?

Re: Rumors
I believe this rumor started because Marion G said that they will keep other options open. She also talked about regionals and the growth of those. Nevad has passed the entertainment tax. It's a 9% tax, most likely just passed on to us and this year would have meant about a $10 increase in your ticket. BM has a lot invested in n. Nv. And if anybody doesn't think that other states won't tax...haha right.

Re: Rumors
The Salt Flats have been too wet for Speed Week for the last few years. That's a lot of revenue Utah is missing. They're extremely friendly to the movie industry on tax breaks, if we hit them up juuuuust riiiiight.....

Re: Rumors
The salt flats would be an interesting venue. I doubt it's possible though, they don't even let the racers camp out overnight on the salt.

Maybe I'm just exercising my secular humanist knee-jerk analysis (although, you think knee-jerk would be beyond me), but isn't the burn something that millions of very organized mormons wouldn't want to see in their state?

The salt flats have no overnight camping. They've been too wet anyway. And it would be like camping on a bed of table salt, would make the playa seem like a welcoming meadow.

I hate rumors too but 9% of 400 is 36.00 so your math is a bit skewed.lucky420 wrote:I believe this rumor started because Marion G said that they will keep other options open. Re: Rumors
I am worried that the cost, the ticket price, is a work around on freedom. I feel like paying these people fees for no value added, is a slack nod to people are slavers. What in the hell do they do? What have they got? Where is their beauty? What the hell?

While I say that in jest, I heard there was a coalition being formed to take the matter under advisement. I am going to keep a low profile, just in case.

New Years in the mid east. "People I know" told me about gas stove use, kinda primitive design, they over heat a lot and blow flames and fuel around.

Baseless rumors for 2016 Burning Man locales.
I have it on good advice that Burning Man 2016 is going to be held in one of the soon to be closed Wal-mart parking lots.

Re: Rumors
I heard a rumor that Burning Man wasn't going to be exactly the same as last year, and that last year was reported to be quite different than the year before, but that 2016 will still most likely be incredibly fun and moving. I can't confirm that, but my sources are pretty reliable.
