Burning Man: The Musical - Your thoughts?

Post by some seeing eye » Wed Aug 26, 2015 12:40 pm

There is a Broadway/Off Broadway show in production with a focus on its insestuous relationship between Burning Man and Silicon Valley. It is a humorous caricature as are many musicals and operas.

I'm not a fan of musicals. The project has received a ton of press. If and when it goes to production in NYC and beyond it will reach an entirely different audience than previous burners.

(By the way, they are working with BM IP, legal and press, so no need to report them to the man, they have reported to the man)

Questions for ePlaya: how does the press coverage help/hurt Burning Man, from a standpoint of recruiting new burners and what kind of burners? Same question when the musical opens and has an audience? Will we get more music and costumes and fewer ravers? More techies and fewer _? Better code or worse?

Discuss.

It would have been better for the world if they'd just done another Harlem Shake video.

The first part, before he wakes up at his tech desk, was funny to me, and I volunteer to personally "greet" the lead actor any time. Once it hit the tech part it was god-awful.
