Population
Does anybody know what the unofficial population came to at the events peak this year?

Re: Population
I saw a number around 68k posted on the white board at Playa Info on the last Sunday. This number, of course, is not a measure of actual bodies on the Playa, but the number that passed through the gates.

That's interesting. Population over the last 20 years has consistently grown except for two years, 2009, and 2014 in both cases the population declined slightly. In the case of 2009 it was the year after the terrible white outs of 2008. I have no idea why the population declined in 2014. It appears the event may have peaked in 2013 at 69,613. I suspect that after this year's terrible dust storms that the population for 2016 will decline like it did in 2009.
(That is just a guess of course, based on general feeling of attitudes of those returning from this year.)

P.S. 2005 was effectively zero growth, the winter between 2004 and 2005 was the winter Chicken John launched the BORG 2 art initiative: http://laughingsquid.com/borg2/
