Dang, what a problem, Elliot. Glad you are safely home and can take a rest break. Seems you have everything under control. YG and Lucky, as always, standing in the wings to lend a hand. Yikes! fire near Middletown. Too close to Harbin for comfort! Hope that they can get this one under control.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'm really feeling much better and happy to be at my defaultia home. Should be good to go for tennis in a couple of weeks!

Holy crap Elliot. I was reading your trailer breakage news and feeling helpless, I have everything to fix it but I'm just too far away.

News reports, while somewhat sketchy, indicate massive evacuations in the Middletown area. Harbin has been evacuated but the damage there is yet unknown, but it doesn't sound very good. Fire fighters have been hurt and there is great damage from these fires. Our thoughts are with all these folks who have suffered from these blazes. What a terrible fire year it has been.

Fire now covers 40,000 acres. Clearlake Riviera near Kelseyville being evacuated. Reckon I will prepare my "kit" again.

Yes, evacuation is now in effect to Lower Lake, which is just a mile or two from my house. So reckon I ought to get busy cleaning Stuff out of Millicent so I I use her. Right now I can just barely get to the driver seat. LOL

I have a thought:
Elliot, do you have a hydrant and or several thousand gallons of water storage available?
I could bring Frankencamper over and stage to protect you if you need/want.
but, without a few thousand gallons of water, the mere 500 on board won't do much.

Bizarre thing is... just as with last time, I have to leave town anyway! Have a dr. appt. in Sacramento tomorrow morning. So now I am cleaning out Millicent as much as possible, and will leave this evening.

Some good news about the fire: Last night's rumor mill was worse than reality. Downtown Middletown is standing. Cobb Elementary School and the Cobb Hardester's Store are standing.

No info about Hidden Valley, except persistent claims that the gasoline station went up rather spectacularly.

The old Hoberg's Resort is gone. Probably Harbin Hot Springs also, but not confirmed.

Our camp member Ron lost his home on Cobb Mountain, and also his lovely dog.

We don't know yet about camp members Keith & Tappy's home, also on Cobb.

But all humans related to our camp are accounted for. That is of course the important thing.

There seems to be no great danger to further areas.

I will be offline much of tomorrow, for an appointment in Sacramento.

Saw video on the net, claiming to be a distant shot (at night) as the propane at the gas station went up. Unknown if this is true. Not good, wherever it was.

As fire spread through Middletown...
they saved the high school and several businesses and homes. Too often, they said, they lost -- several apartment complexes and blocks of homes went up in flames... I'm back from Sacramento. The fire is apparently no longer spreading to any dangerous extent. One of our camp members has lost his home. We are awaiting word on another.

I shall now do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a couple days.

I was born with those parts, and I have never found reason to question, doubt, or disapprove of Mother Nature's handiwork in this regard.

Thanks for all the song books! I will get to work very soon on a wind-proof way to use them next year.

The piano was a success, even without sheet music most of the time. The guy who sounded like Randy Newman was really something. And I was told we had a trio going at one time -- with a fiddle and a flute.

Gaminwench, you are truly a gamin in the very best sense of the word. So happy to hear that you are ok, Elliot. Sorry to hear of your campmate's loss. Thanks for the "firehouse report", Canoe. Sounds like it was really awful. I understand that Harbin burned as well. I guess we'll all know more in a few days when the dust settles.

On Harbin's Facebook page they state that there is extensive damage to buildings and the place is closed indefinitely. There is also a great deal of support for rebuilding, and of course the place has been rebuilt after fire before.
So many people love the place, and all they do -- I feel confident it will be quickly rebuilt.

Just talked with camp member Ron who lost his house. He sounded upbeat, and he is optimistic his dog may have survived.

Also, Keith & Tappy's house is standing! That is fabulous news.

Elliot, just read a report from someone who was there today that the pools are blackened but functioning at Harbin. So my guess is that after a cleanup they will be getting going again sooner rather than later. I'm sure they will keep the public informed. Amazing how your friend can be upbeat. Good for him. Wish him well
