just got off the phone, again, with the Sands person.
it seems the suites I called and reserved weeks ago, are not available. No reason why.
They are trying to work it out, so, said they'll be in contact.
So, stay tuned........

It looks like The Sands situation with the suites is taken care of so the party is on!

We are now fully 1/3 full for the train. Open invitations begin on November 1. If you would like to join us and catch the train in Roseville for the 4 1/2 hour party through the snow-covered Sierras (yeah, yeah, I know...) and then the party that night at The Sands, please PM me with an email address or home mailing address and I'll have an invitation off ASAP. You really don't want to be left behind. Also if you stay someplace other than The Sands we'll knock off $30 from the price of the event.

We are now about 60% full and should be at or near 75% by this time next week. AMTRAKathon 2016 will sell out and could be sooner rather than later. If you are a true burner and live in the general Placer-Sacramento-Nevada-El Dorado-Yolo-Sutter County region, you really should be signing up today! We've secured four suites on the 17th floor of the Regency Tower at The Sands for a burning man-inspired party (who could forget last year's volcano that when it blew out came liquor?). Think about it: all the champagne and beer you want on the train, catered lunch from The Roundhouse Cafe, "tunnel nudity" (one of my personal favorites), decadence and debauchery throughout. It's kind of like being on he playa except no dust and no sheriffs with dogs. And there's a $30 discount if you choose to stay someplace other than the Sands, like The Morris for instance. Single and/or double occupancy. PM me today with an email or regular mailing address and I'll get an invitation off to you ASAP. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Did somebody say they were looking for a party train to Reno? Well, you're in luck! We still have 14 spaces left on the train Roseville-Reno the final weekend in January. You can even deduct $30 if you choose to stay someplace other than The Sands. Bottomless champagne! Catered lunch! Beer! Debauchery! A Burning Man-themed party that night!

Yes. I have one reserved (which I may let OD and Jacque have) and Ygmir has like four reserved. Don't know offhand which ones they are, but in the scheme of things, does it really matter? But unless we can fill up the train (too many people are just thinking of driving to Reno and joining in on the party) money that might be used for the party and the suite will be non-existent. We do need at least a dozen more people to take the train. Pretty please?

I do remember these. Union Pacific Centennial 6900 series EMD DD40X. The biggest diesel locomotive.

As far as attending this year, like last year, it's gonna depend on the weather. The way this late fall has dished out more snow in one storm than we had all last winter, I'm having some doubts.
Last year the temps were in the low 60s.
Like last year, if I can make it, I'll be happy to shuttle some luggage and one or two passengers in my truck to the Sands.

Which parks right outside of our garage building when it's in Jefferson City.....a beautiful locomotive.

These pass through here daily, too....pulling "million dollar trains" - loads of over 150 hopper cars of subbituminous coal from Wyoming......headed for points further east. The number and frequency of these trains is diminishing, though.

My favorite Amtrak run - Jefferson City to Herrman for Oktoberfest. The best of the wurst.
