Hello...

I am going to be attending my first burn in 2017. I would like to go in 2016, but BM falls on the date of my wife and my 25th, and since I like living...

I am looking forward to this... already planning the trip and what I am going to need to go. Unfortunately it looks like I will be traveling alone, since the wife took one look at the videos I showed her of BM and said she was not going. It sounds as though I will not be lonely when I get up there.

Welcome Samurai. My husband of 35 years won't go near the burn. Never has. Don't try to talk her into it. It is not for everyone. Come on along. If you hang out here on eplaya you'll have plenty of friends and support when you get there. BTW I've gone alone to the burn since 2008. It has advantages. Make it a 2 or 3 day trip getting there. Also, look up your local burners. Help with projects. Let your wife get to know them. Now...Read everything. Look into eplaya for answers. Make lists. Then ask us questions to fill in the blanks. You will be over prepared. Welcome!!

Thanks for the warm welcome... I will tell you. My wife's idea of camping is a hotel within eyesight of a couple trees. Love her to death, but she just does not like "Camping". I am a former-Marine... I love being out in the rough. Used to dry-camp all the time when I was younger.

I see the effects of BM on people and I see it as a release, as a form of catharsis and as a place to go to be... myself...

THe more I watch the videos, listen to the interviews, hear the stories... the more I think I should have gone to BM years ago.

As for being ready... It may be overkill, but I am already prepping my list for what to take, just to be sure.

This year it was windy & dusty during the day, and cold at night.
