ygmir, be safe, and light a big fire in the stove if you have the time. A midweek hof trip would suit me fine.
I was going to go to the dmv today, and get my car registered, transfer plates, etc. I thought getting there early would be o.k. for the wait, they put you on a message list and text you on your phone, but sitting in my car waiting would be very cold today, and sitting in there waiting would be yuck. I might still go, if I don't want to, I suppose there's a lot of other folks who don't want to either. I have time to still do it next week, and hope for better weather. It looks like you can only make an appointment for the driver's license. I'll do more research, laundry, and go to the car dealer and get my roof rack put on instead. Plus Simon sidetracked me with photoshop activities in the mono lisa multiverse.
you dont have to wait at the dmv. last summer when i did mine while waiting for the text I ran errands and then went home for a bit. I got to dmv shortly after it opened and was waited on at about 1 pm. you really do have plenty of time to run around or go home and wait...
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Too early to say. The newspaper talks about the likelihood of mudslides, but it seems to me that the roots are still there, binding the soil, even if the vegetation died. So I'm thinking that any effect may be long term, as old roots rot away with few new ones growing.ygmir wrote:...
how's the burn area handling the rain over there, Elliot?

There are planting campaigns underway. A nursery in Oregon has donated hundreds of trees up to 12 feet tall. Now they need trucks.

I had something like this about 10-15 years ago, used it for WD-40. Don't know if it was a Milwaukee or not. Kind of a PITA, never seemed to hold enough air and had to have a compressor handy. Just easier to buy the spray cans.theCryptofishist wrote:Anyone know anything about the Sure Shot?

Well crap, that takes all the sport out of driving up there. I kinda enjoyed the adrenaline rush of the big rocks/cliffs. Didja catch any fish? I can see them clearly in that picture. One is whipping you the bird.....eat that one.

Yggy, you and I stand in agreement on hunting and fishing. The whole tilapia in the seafood case at the grocery store.... I laugh at them. And, If I hunt an animal, it's become a sport to me to see how close I can get with a camera. I just don't stalk the big things that can kill me....like bears, bison, and bighorn sheep. You normally can chase away the bears by banging on pots and pans, but once they identify food in your presence, they want it, and will take off your arm to GET it. And NEVER, EVER, stand between mama bear and her cubs. She WILL protect them.ygmir wrote:you can still drive in from the Reno side, for fun, MGB!!mgb327 wrote:Well crap, that takes all the sport out of driving up there. Mornin All!
About 27 right now. Temperature could drop a degree or two at sunrise. Should be in the mid 50s today. POSSIBLE snow tomorrow night into Monday morning.
Might be a nasty a.m. commute for Carson City-Reno residents. Although the weather channel is now forcasting decent weather. Local stations have their fingers crossed.
Getting ready to head to Gardnerville to drop off the rent then go to Hamdogs for breakfast. Come home and split some firewood.
Stay safe and have a good weekend

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Thanks Rhino!
Considering it's been close to 30 years since I last split firewood, with a couple of wedges and a 10lb sledgehammer, I'm not sore.
I'm not sure if log splitters were around then. If they were, I never heard of them until about 10 years ago.
I had to slow down and watch what I was doing after one of the wedges flipped out of the log and went end over end and missed hitting me by about six inches. Right then I remembered something my dad told me when I was an early teenager...when you swing at the wedge, always try to be facing the width of the wedge as opposed to the edge. There's a less chance that it'll flip out if you skin the strike surface of the wedge. Now they got those grenade looking wedges. I'll try one those when the ones I got wear out.
Enjoy your movies ^Rhino!.

Catman, The grenade wedge is good for the first split of the log, in the center of the heart. After that, go back to the flat wedges.Thecatman wrote:Now they got those grenade looking wedges. I'll try one those when the ones I got wear out.

Morning Lucky, Roundabout. Hey does anybody know what happened to Crease? He wrapped himself around our legs up until the moment someone sold him a ticket. Did anyone meet him at the Greet? I guess he'll be back if he misses out in the main sale again. Someone in the 'introduce yourself' thread reminded me.
Anyway, I'll just pour myself a coffee. Here's a bottle of Jack Daniel's Fire. Help yourself.

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Not that I am complaining a'tall.
After three months of no rain and three weeks of rain almost every day (12-3/4" total) the hybrid bream pond on the farm is back up to the overflow pipe.
The pond was down to the last two feet of water and the bream were so stressed that they had ceased eating. Now that the pond is again full and (even with the aerator on) the bream are still stressed and still not eating their fish food.
In a month or so (when they become re-acclimated to having swimming and breathing room) they should be eating again and come next spring so shall I.
There are still plenty of fish in the freezer, but freshly caught fish are hard to beat.

Good Morning Dear Bar !
Saw "Spectre" and loved it.
Have to laugh at the way generations choose to enjoy life.
The new ones pick on the rating they read on their devices and it seems it only got a 45.
Daniel Craig is sexy, smart and speedy so even though the medical and heli scenes err, I loved it.
