conflicts past and present with one particular poster.

I had thought that the creation of the 3playa and subsequent exodous happened BECAUSE of that one particular poster.

I think that one particular poster (opp) provided much of the inspiration, but not all... Trey (III) is one person I've always really wanted to meet in person. Unfortunately, he no longer attends BM, to the best of my limited knowledge. There was more to it, I'm sure. III was quite interested in 'community' and the dynamics therein, and what he saw happening on the e-playa back then was, ah, not very 'communal'. So, like a good burner, he went out and fixed it himself. The result was 3playa.

But that's my take, and what the f*&# do I know. Seriously, head on over and give it a try. You'll like it. (CowboyAngel once said it looked "dangerous". Hee!)

The bartender who introduced me to it here in Seattle pointed out that it's made in Latrobe, PA. Which is where they also make Penzoil motor oil.

3playa is another board started by III, who got fed up with, well, he got fed up and started another board and many (of the best) followed him. Unfortunately for us, many never came back.

That's not quite what happened. Trey left for three reasons.
1) He did'nt like the layout of the board. Mind you, (and make sure you check out the dates when you do this so he dont continue lying like he and PP do.)
2) He got his pee wee slapped good by the admins because he called them all kinda bullshit cause he was'nt gettin his way when he wanted it.
he wound up looking like an ass when Sir Spanky spanked him one good one with tounge lashing worthy of a trophy:

3) I challenged him to make a Board that he liked. Sheep will follow .......so and so's anywhere. (Bush is an excellent example.)
Just so happens, I have balls enough to tell them where to go as well as they do. That's why they are not here.

Lydia is absolutey correct in what she says. They ARE NOT any more 'elitist' than we are.

They welcome newbies, I've seen it happen. They tend less toward 'drivel', but only slightly IMHO. It's a fun read, and I hate to see any animosity towards them, over here. You wanna complain about 3playa, go to 3playa and complain. They'll listen and give it right back. They fight fair (enough) and like I say, they are open to newbies...

from what I see Sensei you have'nt been on the new eplaya long enough (Joined: 20 Mar 2004) to have seen the "how receptive" Trey and PP and company was to understand exactly what they are up to when it comes to newbies.
They are nice to newbies when they are on their board or if the newbie is agreeing with them. It's a fronyt they need to keep up in order to make themselves feel good about themselves. megalomaniacs I belive they are called?

Hell, they even have their own trolls. Remember Panther? He got his little 105 pound ass kicked of this board (for good reason) but he's haunting their board now. He stays in his own little thread though, which is probably why they stand him.

I gotta agree with you about Panther. I still have his PM from last he was here and would share it cause it is really damn funny, but I dont share in public PM''s.

YES, sometimes it gets painted with a wider brush than necessary... but that happens plenty *here* as well (e.g. "bunch of elitist snobs").

I didn’t find my newbie experience on 3playa particularly rewarding. On the other hand, you might notice that I took all the credit for that. Until I have other evidence, I prefer to blame it on my psyche rather than on people I don’t know very well.

i've been processing 3playa for a year now. i used to be ON the 3playa as a poster. i just needed to stop processing it my head, all alone. after a while you go in circles without answers.

the part that got me was the line where a bunch of folks were saying that the Arabs must find someone to hate if not Israel, and that they all want to kill the Israelis, and that they're all ignorant and uneducated, etc etc etc. And NO ONE spoke up against it. But really, anyone who wants to know what happened needs to read it for themselves, first hand, rather than taking my word for it.

But then, i don't know that i am within my *rights* to post in opposition to that. most of those folks have probably forgotten that i exist. i have no need to be the proverbial bull in a china shop.

My 2 cents worth. I like both boards. The 3playa is a bit sparse as far as the interface goes, otherwise the people seem about the same to me. I don't really know anyone on either board well, and maybe that's why it doesn't matter to me. I followed the whole debate about the eplaya interface before the new board went up, but didn't really care. I can't keep up with the chatter on one board, let alone 2.
