I was gonna say bomb shelter or fallout shelter. I have one in my backyard that was installed in the early 50's...looks a lot like that.
My vent pipes are further apart, and I had the door welded shut when I bought the house. The iron shelter underground is totally rusted out
and badly decayed.

Come on you guys. I am going to give you some hints.

Cease thinking so far out of the envelope. Don't make is so complicated. It ain't all that complicated.

Just take a look at the details and then the big picture. Once the light bulb lights, you will say that it was obvious all along.

It should be second nature and especially easy to identify for the folks that live in: Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. (Too big of a hint here)

Miss Ratty will give the winner a choice of either a fine rum soaked cigar or an pre-owned pair of custom decorated under drawers. Or, she might not......

That is a photo of my landscaped tornado shelter that sits just outside of my back door here in Mississippi.

After installation, I broadcast rye grass to kept keep the mound from washing away. Right now (and six years later) the spider lilies are all sprouted-up nice and green and not long from now, it will covered with a carpet of red pom-poms.

Which would you like for Miss Ratty to send you? A semi-fine rum soaked cigar or a pair of previously owned and generously decorated under drawers. Or, she might not send either......

When I saw those pictures of Meathunter's 'fallout shelter' I had to post one. (Hey, it's the slow season here on eplaya). I'm a California Girl. Never seen such a thing. Can you imagine? "OK family, get down those stairs. We're gonna weather the storm in an underground pod." Gives me the willies just thinking about it. You can't use those in a flood district. How long do you stay down in there? An hour or 6 hours. Do you get cell service? What if a tree, (or a cow), lands on the door and you can't get out? Oh well, my people are from Kansas and I've seen the aftermath of tornados. Gotta do whatcha gotta do.
