thanks, sweetie, i need it this morning.
maybe it's my imagination.. it seems like what happens on both boards is largely slagging of the other board (when it is discussed). I wonder if this has primed people to think that all talk about the other board is necessarily slagging.

sometimes i think that if we could talk like sane people about it maybe the situation would be better.

i'm gonna start my own board just for me and the voices in my head. but since i'm not so computer savvy, it's gonna be on college ruled paper.

damn, the only problem is that you all are so much more CLEVER than i. sheee-iiiiit.

ah feck darlin... I was responding in part to your reactions and in part to the... um... assumptions and presumptions that immedidately followed it in response.

I know where you stand. All I meant to say to You, darlin RJ is do what ya want. You'd be welcome to post there but if you don't wanna then don't.

I fuckin’ give up on ever being understood through communication, electronic or otherwise. Clearly I am a fuckwit.

I’m gonna go find a cabin in the woods, eat grass, and read books for the rest of my life. and then never communicate everything I learn.

Sheesh. Don’t I feel like a loser this Tuesday morning.

anyone got a mimosa for a hermit?
Hey your moven in on my kind of life style, if you find some kind of hermit reserve where hermits don't have to pay mortgages or come up with dog food money please let me know.

Hermitages and Monastaries

Post by sputnik » Tue Nov 30, 2004 8:55 am

The night before the burn I was at the man and happened upon a woman doing 'readings', I think she called herself Star, she told me that I had a hermitage in my soul. I'm not 100% clear on the happenings at that moment, since I wasn't 100% clear myself. Still trying to figure out what she meant.
It's going to be alright.

Well, there's a spot down the road from here called Hermitage, Arkansas. Mostly they got a trailor park there, probably a fuckin wal-mart.

Mr. Tzu, fancy snobby coffee for you (I snuck it in from the new agey place), and a wallop of scotch to warm you up.

smoooch back at ya Lydia. the last thing i'd wanna do it hurt your feelings. don't you know i'm the president of your official fan club???

i've had dreams of being a hermit, off and on, since about age 9. maybe younger.

on the whole racism, bigotry issue, why the hell is it ok in the world with our supposedly 'advanced' civilisations to still say that kind of shit? it just appals me that educated people are still stereotyping thousands or millions of people without really knowing anything.

is it our media? is it our culture? do we, as americans, just 'need someone to hate'?

i don't get it. am i just stupid?

i will admit, i've had to fight tooth and nail over the past year against the things that make a person into a bigot, and i ain't sayin' i'm perfect. my 'hebrew reconditioning school' is going quite well.... hell, when my new israeli friends started in speaking hebrew i didn't think anyone was yelling at me! i would have flinched a year ago. hard.

should i walk around saying that all the israelis are gonna shoot me, just because some of them have? how is that productive?

i think i hate the world. it makes me really, truly depressed.

they actually built a wal-mart down the road, in up-end West Little Rock, on Chenal Valley Parkway, lateda, that looks kinda like that. The denizens of chenal valley protested the eyesore of a supercenter and demanded aesthetic compromises, and Wal-mart conceded. Got a free oil change there a couple of weeks ago; hte mechanic was like hey baby, that'll be 6.50  and I was like "Hey thanks man! COME ON KIDS, LETS GO GET OUR GROCERIES."

You should see/feel the great southern racial rift..... so much tension all over the earth, in our countries, our neighborhoods, our discussion boards.....between coffee shop and bar.....within our own souls.......sigh....

Actually, that has been a goal I've been steadily working towards.....I'm talking ultimate self-sufficiency, off-grid, grow my own food homestead-wilderness-style. I'm not quite there yet. Another reason for choosing medical transcription....can be done anywhere. Speaking of working towards goals, I should be off this board and working. Bye everybody!

If you make that "we, as humans", and you've got it. This has been going on for all of recorded history. Nazi Germany is the perfect, crystal clear, example. It is not confined to "Americans", it is World wide. The situation in Uganda and Ruwanda is another good example. The only way to combat it is with serious education, and working within yourself to not let it happen.

I was raised to be a bigot (typical redneck "don't trust anyone who's differ'nt" crap) but South East Asia burnt that outta' me. A bullet is a great equalizer, and when I realized we were all the same, a bunch of that stuff dropped away. Over the years it has gotten only better (deeper understanding), to the point where I am only bigotted against those who are not only ignorant, but proud of their ignorance. There are 'rednecks' of every color and I really don't care for them. Stupidity (by which, I mean a genetic condition) is not something a person can do anything about; I don't have any prejudice against the stupid, it's not their fault. But the ignorant... grrrrrrrrrrr... Pay attention, dammit!

Okay... maybe a little bigger scotch this time... and then, back to work.

i dunno, i guess i tend to think it's more that we're taugh to hate and we have to unlearn it... even though you start out by saying it's human nature you go on to say you were taught to have a typical redneck mentality.

every bit of bastard in me has been learned. (least, i think so) and i'm still working on unlearning them all.

There are things we learn that we have a propensity to learn... which means we can 'un-learn' them, which means we learn something else. If you ever watch young children (between the age of eighteen months and four years old) you will see that some of them are very ego centered; greedy ("MINE!!"), cruel, thoughtless, etc. This is a natural propensity that is in the human gene pool. If they are raised in surroundings (or transferred to surroundings at a later date) that enforce and enhance these characteristics, you get the same behaviour in adults. Now, we can go against this training, and against our propensity, if we so desire. The human culture (any society) is the best means of changing this behavior, but if the culture tends towards these behaviors, don't be surprised if the majority of the people in this culture behave in a certain way.

However, if you introduce a different set of paradigms into this mix, you will get a certain group of people who begin to exam, and then accept, these paradigms as valid, and begin to behave this way. That is how I 'escaped' (partially) Redneckism. I read. I have read everything from Neitchze to Mao Tze Dung... Twain to Dostoevsky... Einstein to Sagan... and it has changed me.

Uhhhhh ... more scotch please... and then I'm back to work for a while...

Ohhh... sorry I missed it... I still need to get up there for one, but 'Workin' for The Man' has got me stuck here. If I can build up a reserve, I'll make it up there... maybe the end of December... Hmmm... Wadda' ya' think?

Right after Christmas I might be able to make the trek to the LL for a Monday with my friend. She will be in from NY and wants to visit Seattle at least once.

Well the closest I'll come to visiting anywhere in seattle this year is if I send you this life-sized elvis cutout that I'm gluing my face onto. Will you drag me along with you some night if Elvis is my vehicle? What if I put him/us in a dress?
