Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
I am marking time until the 28th. I do get to go to Santa Rampage in Vegas, and will let MyLarry and friends push me about rather than try to stay upright. Other than that, pretty good. I have tons of lovely snow to gaze upon.

AntiM juggling loose cannon balls? So we don't let her out of the car at Gettysburg. Cannon balls were passé by 1863, anyway....seems the locals preferred canister shot. J/K.
The National Park Service tends to have other recurrent nightmares on their minds, like a bunch of geology students with rock hammers heading for Obsidian Cliffs at Yellowstone, or just loose in Petrified National Forest.
Eliott, I'm glad you are OK.

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Dang Elliot. Glad to hear you are okay.
We suffered a nice holiday visit, two houses down from us. Just four vans full of police, a helicopter, ambulance. Your typical holiday traffic.
Seems someone was attempting to make a gift of meth to another person, so they had a meth lab setup there. I guess the police got invited as our neighborhood tends to invite the police to all functions. Although, they seem to be impatient as they broke down the doors (front and back).
All this excitement caused the lady between our house and the party house, to have a heart attack. Thus the ambulance.
They filled the vans, cars, and ambulance,
then fled the scene like a well orchestrated dance.
I heard them exclaim, as they drove out of sight,
"That ain't going to be a Merry Christmas for you guys tonight!"
Life in the hood. Good times.

Elliott that sounds scary. This has been one hell of a year for you. What will your New Year's toast be?
Perhaps those neighbors of mine will have mixed feelings about this December, but for me personally all is lovely.
Come Sunday I'll be going to a symphony concert with a local lady friend. The Lake County Symphony Orchestra. I didn't know we had one. Lori will be driving, so I can fortify my tolerance level if necessary.

As for those neighbors.... The investigators apparently finished up last night, and the owners just came by.
Turns out, the owners were not at home at the time of the crime. But their two children were. The husband's sister and brother-in-law were there, and their two children. The brother-in-law is badly injured, but will recover. The sister has only a minor injury.
The husband and I have now discussed the boarding up of the broken window, which I will do if he doesn't get around to it.
Good thing I "have already seen it all" on this planet, so it is almost ho-hum to me.
Well, that concludes this soap opera.
(I have been the victim of less crime in 13 years here in Clearlake than in the last ten years I lived in Sacramento. Life is good.)

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Indeed, Elliott. Life IS good.
The major excitement over the last five years was one single night where the neighbors down the block held a big party. There was a disagreement, and a gun was pulled and fired. The victim got shot right through the cartilage of his ear, and there was no other damage. The Columbia police showed up with 7 cars, Boone County Sheriffs' Department with three, and two Missouri State Highway patrolmen for good measure (it must have been a slow night otherwise). One of the young men running away from the scene had his hand to his ear (he was the one shot) and he came my way. I told him to sit down and wait for medical attention, and I got out a first aid kit from my truck. I had it cleaned and bandaged before the ambulance arrived. I used hydrogen peroxide so ithe cleaning wouldn't hurt, and then I used standard gauze and then.....vet wrap. It doesn't stick to skin. The EMT said I did a 'bang-up job'.
I looked him in the eye, and with tongue in cheek, said, "No pun intended, right?"
The highway patrolmen present groaned and laughed.
The residents of that apartment were evicted the following week.
Columbia does have a good reputation as a sleepy little town if you live in the right area (which I do).

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
My marking of time has been to this week, and now it's like a string of firecrackers going off. Hanging put and drinks with friends, then yesterday's Muse show in SF. Today was cranking through a few things, knocking out some laundry and then the series finale on Peep Show, a brit-com We've loved for years and years (it was silly and fun). Tomorrow we zoom on down to LA and then off to the legendary El Capitan theater in Hollywood. It's first claim to fame is having been the first theater to ever show a 'talkie' in 1928. Many years later, Disney bought it and threw gobs of money at an amazing restoration of the architecture, and a complete modernization of the technology. Now they use it for all the big premieres and tentpole movies. It was one of the theaters used for Monday's big Star Wars premiere event, and we'll be catching the first screening outside the Industry insider folks. Then we'll catch Muse in Los Angeles again on Friday and Saturday, and catch up with a couple friends and campmates. I wish we had more time in town, there's always more to do and more places to go than we have time for.
Meanwhile, it's a lazy loungy night at home drinking vodka and vicious chemicals.... Mmm...

Good Morning Dear Bar !
Brr, we do have winter today at last.
Instead of just wrapping presents I am determined to "lighten up" and eliminate the stuff I really do not use
it makes for kind of a fun thing with a whole bin of "scavenge for the fam to peruse

Yeah, I saw that comic strip yesterday. And I did a little brain exercise -- imagining how I would explain it to a child. I'm a big fan of Non Sequitur.

Hey Elliot, I'm casually on the lookout for a really old bike to build a "rat rod". I don't care how uselessly junky it is, I just want a frame, something old, with two top tubes. Have you got anything lying around?

I'll have to check it when I get home from work at around 7 or so tomorrow morning, which technically will be Monday but will feel like Sunday to me.
In fact it's time to get ready to head out the door. Supposed to be in the mid 30s tonight on the Comstock with little wind so it should be a quiet night.
Sleep tight all!

The longest night for me was the night before the colonoscopy. That was a nightmare! I had no idea the human body could do that! Stuff was flying out of me which had n business being in there the first place! I know I must have begged someone to shoot me, at one point. I know the cats were hoping someone would and the Wife unit wanted to replace bathroom fixtures after that!

Pretty sure my colon did not splatter. It might have looked like a dark, inverted version of any decent geyser in Yellowstone Park, but splatter...nope.
