Spring training anyways.
My favorite time of year, to hear the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd.

I remain addicted to chocolate chip ice cream. You don’t want to hear about the withdrawal symptoms.

No green tea for me – something “wrong” with the flavor of that color. But a local lady has introduced me to a tea called Throat Coat – obviously intended to soothe a sore throat – and it has a most agreeable flavor. With a heapin’ dollop of honey, of course.

Still feeling wonderfully limber and exercised and cheerful from a swim I went to Sunday.
I belong to a group that rents an indoor pool a few times each winter, and we have three hours to swim plus a light potluck meal. I fancy myself a connoisseur of swimming-water and I carry a thermometer. 88 degrees F!
If I swam vigorously, it would be too warm. But I swim leisurely, and with 88 F water I don’t lose any core temperature, even after three hours of being mostly in the water.

Yup, it rains on and off here too, which is perfect for countering the drought.

Life is good!

It's hard to even fathom that baseball's around the corner, when football is still raining down on our heads. It probably seems worse (or bigger) than usual, since the big game is going to be in the bay area (don't let the announcers fool you, the superbowl is not being held in San Francisco... it's being held a good hour or so south of town). The surrounding events and festivities are all over the city, though, and causing headaches for commuters and folks trying to get around town over the next few weeks.

Strangely enough, despite the news being filled with stories about El Nino and rains hitting the bay area, it's dry outside and there's even a little sun to speak of. We'll probably be getting more wet stuff soon (and we need it), but I'll take the break and hopefully get all my errands done before things get messy. Then tonight I want to try my hand at making a singapore sling. Cheers!

Hooray for Misa!!! What a great drink, too!

Well, I got everything I was looking to pick up while running errands today...


Now I've got all the fixins to make singapore slings a couple different ways. I recently had and really enjoyed them when we were out someplace, and thought it might be a fun drink to learn to make well.

And I take a can of pineapple juice to work with me a couple days a week and drink it straight.

I like pineapple juice, and ought to make a point to drink it more often.

Well, the first attempt appears to be a success. A fancy drinks book writer said this of the singapore sling... "Of all the recipes published for [this drink] I have never seen any two that were alike." My experience looking this up online proved that statement to be true. For my first effort, I went for the more posh variety...



These came out sweeter than the ones I'd had while we were out, so I ground some hawaiian sea salt up and stirred it in and MAN that was great stuff! This one is definitely a sipping cocktail, plenty strong!

Well I was awake early but worrying
tonight we are gathering fam together to see my 13 year old grandchild
star in "Guys and Dolls"
She is wearing my clothes
But that is not the worry . She is perfect !
The worry is that her grandfather is also coming .
