Rest in Peace: Paul Fairchild (aka Ranger Reckless). Reckless was one of the old school Black Rock Rangers (for the better part of a decade) who served the citizens of Black Rock City with integrity, compassion and genuine love for the event and all that it represents. He loved the Black Rock desert equally as much as he loved the event and participated in several land art classes offered by Stanford University which drew attention to the history of the Basin and Range including the oppression of the Paiute Nation as well as the geography, geology, flora and fauna of the area. The ranks of the Black

The Black Rock Rangers are diminished with his passing. He will be sorely missed and irreplaceable.

Went to bed knowing cancer killed Bowie, woke up this morning to a message from my wife that cancer had killed my mother-in-law (which we knew was coming, but, fuck)

Fuck cancer, fuck this day.

I do. She's stationed a few states away right now, and is someone who would rather deal with her grief in more solitude. She's going to our property near Big Bend as soon as she can to just get away from everything. I'm here with the boyfriend and we're just talking about what an amazing woman she was (yes, she knew him too, and we all made a fantastic modern family).

Tons of hugs for everyone who's going through grief. I rarely come to this thread because I can't make anyone feel better, then I realize why it's needed when I'm the one posting.
