Thanks for the kind words Yggy, but I couldn't have done it without the generous help from my friends. Thanks Ratty, Red, Twist, and everyone else who had a helping hand in this ordeal. Sex, drugs, and debauchery; see what the rest of you missed? (Check out our Amtrakathon FB page for the latest pics.)ygmir wrote:Amtrakathon was another wonderful time! Amtrakathon was another wonderful time! Thanks Doc, for starting this tradition!
So much thanks to you Doc and of course Red too. As always it was a blast and so thankful that you all come here to do it!
Yes a couple people still here, mgb, LF, patch but they leave soon too...waaaaaa
And thank you Ratty for the coolest stuffed road kills ever! I took one that had a bone tied around its neck...my dog ate the bone!
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
In other news.... Some wonderful news has arrived across the street here in Clearlake this afternoon.
My neighbor's brother-in-law, who was seriously wounded in a robbery some weeks ago, just arrived here -- walking, talking, driving a car, recovering very well. He has a bunch of medical "hardware" sticking out of his jaw, which was shattered by the bullet. The "hardware" keeps his jaw in position while it is still healing. But apparently he will eventually be almost like new.
Three cheers for medical science and the dedicated professionals who ply that trade!

Good evening, Bar . . .
I'm thinking about spiking some hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps.

Yesterday was nearly 70 in Boston and woke up to 32 degrees. The good news is the groundhog did not see his shadow today, so it will be an early spring.

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
Hey kids, I just got home 4 AM-ish. (LF, de plane was held up in maintenance for....a light bulb!) Now, that was fun! I have to thank all you west-coasters for the hospitality. The Bootie/Reno with Eric was fantastic. The weather kinda sucks out there, but beautiful up in the hills. Great food/music and friends. Got a Ratty Road Kill, some clothes that the airport dogs thought were interesting, and put on 3 pounds. Yay!

Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them’s making a poop, the other one’s carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge?

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
Good morning!
I know how you feel, Yggy... this particular election cycle seems to be pretty thick, I think all the campaigns have pretty sophisticated viral marketing and hype machinery greasing up social media pretty good.
Hooray for safe arrivals, mgb... The holdup sounds frustrating, but it sure beats being mid-flight and having something go horribly wrong because of some ridiculously simple maintenance issue. Sounds like it was a great trip, even with the weather.
Speaking of weather, today is particularly wet and cold. I was up a couple hours ago with the girlie... Her turn to do a group breakfast for people in her department is coming up later in the week, and she wanted to use the occasion to go check out an italian bakery we've been meaning to try. So we headed over there today to eyeball the place and see if it met with her approval (it did), then place her order for Friday.
I need more caffeine

Doc Pyro, I bow to you. All the loose ends were tied, the cats herded and the clusters fucked. (In other words, it surpassed my expectations.) You really know your shite to put on such a great party for so many different kinds of folks. I would thank all the fab help if I knew who they were! Plus I roomed with Patsh, drank way too much, lost 40 cents gambling, got to walk around in the snow and toured the beautiful Morris Hotel. A wonderful way to spend a weekend. Thank you.

Happy 2/2 tutu Tue to tous too!
ok.. too much coffee
Speaking of grounding aircraft for burnt out lightbulbs, there is a very real and bitter lesson learned the hard way on this one. Eastern flight 401, which crashed in the Everglades. The pilot and flight crew became so preoccupied with a burnt out lightbulb, (OK it was an important landing gear indicator bulb, but nevertheless) they ended up fumbling over each other to get at it and nobody, not even the autopilot, was driving the plane. Bad day.
The takeaway for me was to learn to better allocate responsibility. Go ahead and let your friend in the the passenger seat work with the more complex radio settings, while you keep eyes on the road. That kind of thing.

Afternoon Bar!
I'm so boooooored at work right now but there's nothing quite like a crossword puzzle to make you feel stupid. Unless it's maths, maths always make me feel stupid. I can do waitress math quite well in my head but once you start factoring letters...boom I'm done.
Damn it's quiet in here. We need a sleepy guy emoji
