Man, what a day. The bakery didn't have any of those apple turnovers, but Pani was able to get everything she needed for her work brekkie. I had a busy day, but it's been crazy in the world of packages and shipping. The UPS guy came and brought 3 packages, but one of them was for the previous tenant. I could understand if we'd just moved in (we're heading into our 3rd year here, and the place was empty for a month or two before we got here), or if it was junk mail, but it was something somebody spent decent money to ship.
Then later in the afternoon, I had what I guess was an altercation with a Fedex guy. Our loft has a street access door, and since the building entrance is around the corner, people often mistakenly knock on that street door when they want to get in and go to one of the other units. We've put a sign in the window with a company name and our Unit number, but people still mess it up and knock. If I'm home and not in the middle of something important, I'll answer and explain that the building entrance is around the corner. Most delivery companies have it figured out, they make the mistake once and then somebody makes a note or something. The regular fedex people are fine, but the Fedex Ground guys must be underpaid or just don't care... they make the mistake a few times a week and when I ask them to ask someone to make a note in the system their eyes glaze over. Today's driver (it's almost always a rotating cast of characters) was really abrasive and argumentative. He pounded on the door twice before I could walk the 10-15 feet to answer. Then he insisted he had the right address, argued with me over his mistake, then stormed off in a huff. He came back and pounded even louder on the door a few minutes later. I answered it, mistakenly thinking he might be doing the professional thing and either apologizing or saying he'd talk to someone.. but yeah, I was wrong. Shouting and altercation ensue

, and he backs out of the loft and takes off after I say I threaten to call the cops. Oy.
On the cute side, our little black cat has been excited and on edge ever since the incident, racing to either door to investigate every time she hears an outside noise.
Clearly it's time to pour a drink or three. It's Friday, happy weekend! Happy holiday weekend if you're of the sportsball persuasion.
