and now, the whole deer family comes to the door, to eat bird seed, my flower sprouts, roses, and generally dismiss me, as the apex predator here , while mom looks over her shoulder and mocks me.

Whew... fun evening, had dinner and drinks with friends and campmates, then got home to what initially sounded like the dull roar of a muffled stereo... neighbor must be having a party. Good for them, but man, the music wasn't very danceable... hang on a second, hard rock. Check again, yeah... it was the Metallica show at the ballpark nearly a mile away. Even though I'm not really a fan of the band, I'm a big fan of loud fuck-off rock and roll sound systems.

The cats didn't mind, until the fireworks. I don't know if it was a barge that had drifted to an unusual spot closer to us, or more likely the post-concert fireworks for the rock band had a lot more of the deep boomers, but once that show got going our kitties who are normally fireworks pros (we live close to a stadium, they hear them all the time)... well they were convinced that tonight was the actual firework apocalypse. 2 drinks later, and they're both still at undisclosed locations.

SF residents beware, apparently there's been a sighting or three of that Bieber kid, on top of all the other sportsball-related nonsense.

Dammit, my drink is empty again... *sneaks off to the bar for a refill*

Wow, that must be some fireworks. I would have thought that two drinks would make any cat quite fireworks-proof.

Hi gang!
yeah I'm glad not to be a city, and especially Bay Area dwellers on these days.
Big cities and crowds are tough on me (yet I go to TTITD?), and the mayhem must be extreme! Cacophonous!

gotta make some hats. Lucky, you got to be a bronco fan today, right? Here's my news: I now have weekends off. I got a new schedule, so I get to be in synch with other people's fun plans again.
New shade/bug hut came in the mail. hugely discounted and I couldn't resist. Kelty's four corner shade with mesh sides. I'm theorizing that the mesh might give it a little wind integrity while letting air flow through. Proof on the playa doesn't always conform to theory, though. Things that flex, also lift and squash well.

The Save Mart in south Carson City has fried pea pods. I think you can get them just about anywhere though. Dip them in Saracha sauce or Franks Hot Sauce.

I've found you can painlessly get cauliflower down by steaming the bejeebus out of it, then mashing it up and dressing it just like a fully loaded baked potato. Tastes and looks about the same.

I make cauliflower in a cheesey sauce as an alternative to mac'n'cheese. It's quite good :)

And I just read that dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa is good for us -- specially for lowering blood pressure. The recommended quantity is a bit disappointing, though -- 1/2 (half) ounce daily.

I tried making pot brownies but they were too moist and they just wouldn't stay lit.

I love that log commercial, Yggy, one of my favorite things from Ren & Stimpy and always brings a smile to my face.

Happy Monday! I hope the sportsball and the commercials and everything were fun for all those who were interested. Traffic and assorted nonsense in the city were a bit of a pain, but hey we got the Bay Lights back for good now.... so no complaints from me. My Sunday was on track to be filled with relaxation and libation, but my sweet darling gf ran into a jam on her 3D printer and then later in the day started feeling poorly. The jam should have been easily sorted, but when she turned a hex wrench in some special fastener instead of loosening... it stripped. D'oh! It's a weird part in an awkward position, and as Murphy's law dictates... I didn't have the right tool. There's a hardware store across the street from us, but they're closed on Sunday, so I waited until today. She's definitely come down with something, and woke up feeling even worse today. She called in sick and I'm taking care of her while I bounce around doing other stuff around the loft.... so it's a chicken soup/servers/laundry kind of day. Take care!
