4:30 Neighborhood Camps

Alright, what camps (registered or otherwise) are planning on camping in the 4ish to 5ish range on the dial? Yes, we realize that placement is not announced until early July, and not all camps have filled out a placement questionnaire. Tell us about where you've requested, or where you're aiming to camp in the neighborhood if you're not a placed theme camp. This thread is for camps to announce their locations and intentions (not for recruiting, posting lineups and schedules, or other stuff you can tell us in your own camp thread)… tell us who you are, meet your neighbors!

After 3 years of doing the ziggurat installation, Eridu Society is ready for ch-ch-ch-changes... We'll be back in 2016 but doing something new, Eridu's Brainy Bar, in the 4:30 neighborhood. On top of the bar, we're also hoping to organize daily (and nightly) whale watching tours aboard the Land Yacht and other shenanigans.

Astral Headwash always requests the 4:30 sector (we've been at roughly 4:20 & E the last few years).

We'll do so again this year.

After three years on 5:00, last year Placement put us in the 4:30 Plaza, which turned out right nicely. We hope to be back in that Plaza.
Besides bicycle services and a piano (and beverages, of course), we are working on a Healing Arts addition to the camp, with Reiki, Shiatsu, and probably even some Mental Health information.
And we are bringing a 30-foot-wingspan Leonardo da Vinci flying machine. (Though for static display only, alas.)

I know how difficult it would be to make even remotely functional, but to me you're the master of the kinetic machine & can do anything.

I MUST HURRY TO POINT OUT THAT THE LEONARDO DA VINCI WING WAS NOT BUILT BY ME.

It was built by others, and I am merely its curator. (It was in danger of going to the dump for lack of storage space.) The builder will of course be duly credited with signage at the display.

"The Swamp" is hoping to nab a spot around 4:30!

Currently were just one RV, 25' in length. Wanting to create a Florida themed swampish camp with astroturf (pretty sure this is ok? I know sod isn't), kiddie pools n fake cattails. Oh, and if course inflatable gators ::chomp chomp::

@tr - astroturf has a tendency to get moopy, as little bits and pieces break off with wear. It's also not all that comfortable on bare feet - you may want to consider looking into inexpensive rugs or carpeting. That will not only reduce the amount of dust in the living space, but be a lot friendlier on the feet. You may also want to re-think the idea of a kiddie pool. The health department says no public pools of any kind, plus it only takes minutes for one to potentially become a muddy, moopy mess (the dust kicks up without warning, and gets everywhere).

@Elliot - that piece is absolutely wonderful, and would make a really fantastical display piece!

Ooohhh, I can absolutely see the muddied pool happening n didn't know astroturf did that. Love and appreciate the immediate feedback from everyone! Total n00b over here. So just the gators for now lol Thank you, trilobyte and elderberry! I'll be sure to research any n all camp ideas extensively.

When astroturf get wet, it tends to glue to the ground. (Well, it's the playa that turns to glue.) Then when the astroturf is pulled up, it leaves the surface looking like a newly seeded lawn sprouting. Very bad.
This can happen with rugs too, which is why we use billboard vinyl under our rugs.

"The Swamp" is revamping. Currently entertaining a new theme, "Swamp Thing". All creatures and non creatures welcome

Will be looking into dressing up the RV in approved materials (got some good threads bookmarked regarding durable and alterable materials along with how to tie the suckers down. But feel free to link me! I'm an info scrungger

The Hookah Lounge will be back. I am not a camp lead so cannot speak in any "official" capacity about plans or placement requests, but if past years are any indication, then 4:30ish and A seems a likely vicinity.

Hmmm.... Maybe we can use the Leonardo Wing as a photographer platform for our photo shoots -- instead of setting up a monstrous scaffolding tower! Strap the photographer to it and fly it like a kite!

“Dr. Baron von Realz Esq. most spectacular Steampunk Sideshow of altered reality and debauchery” will be back, hopefully on the art plaza again! We have lots of yummy events that are in the works. I will be stepping down as camp lead this year. I was starting to feel like I was controlling the direction too much so I gave it over to Dr. awkward. This year we will be doing aerial acrobats, charka clearing events, hemp necklace & bracelets workshops, body painting, hangover hump day, lots of DJ events and if it is not to cold the infamous water fight just to name a few. At least some of the black widows will be back to infest our camp with their female magic. We are working on a rocket stove for the camp and kicking around ideas for a art project. Shout out to do nothing camp and dragon smelters love you guys.

Hi all,
I'm looking for a small number of 4:30 neighborhood public spaces that would like to host (and keep) chalk boards for public events. I want to put them in reasonably high traffic places so anybody can put events on them. They are free standing but should be strapped to something solid to keep them from falling over in strong wind. They have about 2 foot x 2 foot chalk board surfaces. Are there any takers? I'll build them and deliver them to your camps, all you need to do is put them in high traffic areas with chalk, then take them home with you for use next time.

Ok, Wigwam here announcing the Wanderers will try to be back in the 4:00 to 4:30 area. We're again doing hot dogs and toxic tonic (G&T) every day between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. That's right...every day for hungry and thirsty playa wanderers.

We appreciate our friends at DeMenthe and hope to be near them again this year.

Same corner of the 4:30 Plaza as last year, with a bit more space for all our new people -- precicely what we asked for.

Kamp Suckie Fuckaye will also be returning to the 4:30 Portal... booze, fire, acrobats, aerialists, suspension rope bondage, strippers, etc. We're mostly open in the evening/night, but sometimes we're sober enough to run things during the day.

Evening entertainment schedule: Monday live music (might still be accepting submissions though I'm not sure, last year we had some killer acts), Toolsday (all Maynard James Keenan music and a wine tasting from his vineyard, accompanied by fire and shibari performances), Wednesday Garnish Fire Conclave performance (bigass choreographed awesomeness), Thursday (Klassy aSs Fuck variety show with burlesque, stand up, vaudeville, live music, and fire). Also some other events during the week like the 100 squats challenge every day at noon, the 2nd annual Black Tie Shasta Tasting with our expert budget soda sommeliers, and maybe a hungover rope bondage class or two.

It's gonna be a good year.
