Hi, hi. I am tay-tertot.

Some tidbits/ramblings:

Virgin burner, will finally be home this year. I'm arriving with some other first timers (my girlfriend, my sister, some family-friends), though we have been planning for a long time and decided in the past not to go due to improper prep, etc. I'm a female, 27, ISFP.. shy at first, very dry and sarcastic humor. I love to work with my hands, weld, ceramics. Artist at heart, product designer at wallet. Currently living in NYC, but I may be moving back to SF by August.

I have been to many of the burner-related events in SF, West Oakland, and here in NYC. I cannot wait to add TTITD to that list.

I'm on here quite often for the wealth of info - seemingly more than anywhere else? Kudos. I'm mainly a lurker but if you drop in to say hi, I will make sure to respond :D.

Hello and welcome, tay-tertot! This place has plenty of great info, and if you run into a question you don't see answered, just pick the section you think it belongs in and ask away. And don't worry about feeling shy, lots of people do. There's actually a great thread on the subject that you might want to check out right here, while the first post alone is pure gold, there are also a lot of great responses in there too.

Greetings, tay-tertot, and welcome to ePlaya. If you're a planner, you will not be lacking for hours upon hours of material to help you here. Just make sure you don't spend so much time planning that you forget to enjoy the ride. :D

I've been pretty surprised at some of the folks I've met who were outgoing and perfectly comfortable in their own skin on playa but describe themselves as shy in the default world. That's one of the things that first struck me about being out there...anyone can be exactly who they are or who they feel like being, and it is ok.

Skuzzy61 described himself the same way, until it slipped out that he builds cars and found out the burner community is full of builders of all kinds, including cars. Suddenly he had plenty in common with a bunch of us. Now we can't get him to shut up. (haha... see, now he's already on "flip shit at him" terms, that means he's friends now).
I'm pretty sure that's what will happen to you because you listed interests that are right up Burner Alley.
Uh oh. Then we won't know how to get you to shut up either...

Tattertot A hearty Hi, Ho and welcome. I swear...this board has something for every taste. (Who doesn't LOVE tatter tots?) There's a bar very near burning Man head quarters with $3 PBR and cheap tots too. Anyway, back on the ranch, welcome to eplaya. We'll try to help you prepare for the dream vacation. Anticipation is part of the fun.

Saving this thread for sure. I don't anticipate my shyness being much of an issue, but it does feel reassuring to know that other people have overcome it during BM.

Thanks for sharing!! PS The redesign on the site is amazing.

That's good to hear! I have a feeling that I'll come out of my shell a bit more naturally there, fingers crossed! No time to be shy, there's much to see and do.

Thanks for the tip on over-planning. :o I'm definitely going to try to let-loose once I am there and have my bases covered!

It is! This is the first place I've ever lived where going to Burning Man is actually an escape from the heat! ;)
