A funny, well maybe not so much, thing happened to my plans to get to Burningman in 2014, a baby. I ended up becoming the custodial "parent" to my grandson. He is two now and I can see him transitioning back to his mom in the near future. Not in time for 2016 but I am hoping and planning on 2017.
I went through a depressed, shut down period when I saw I wasn't going to make it in 2014, and took a time out from eplaya. It has probably been for the best because I have continued to prep and will hopefully able to reach my goal of being a really together first time burner when I do get there. By the time I got back on eplaya I had forgot my password, which was registered on my work computer. The company no longer exists thus the name alteration. Below is my first Greeters Post.

Hi, aspiring 2014 new burner from Central Coast, Ca. Have been reading eplaya for awhile, finally registered a couple of months ago to see images attached to threads, which makes a difference. Love, love the prep threads and have found them very helpful in planning, so thank you to all for your contributions, perhaps even the snark.

Hey there, welcome (back) to eplaya!

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome, Verve 2!
I understand how hard it is to watch others planning when you yourself don't get to go. (There was a stretch of several years when attending the Burn did not work out for me, and during July and August of those years, I used filters so as not to see acquaintances getting ready.)
You have clearly been a stand-up grand-dad and are hopefully very soon about to inhabit that role in the usual sense, and can have some freedom! My fingers are crossed for you. Hope to see you in the dust in 2017.

Thank you all. Elderberry I liked your greeting modification. Ratty I am plugging away and will make it there. You were right on, the fun of it is prepping like a survivalist. Savannah it is nice to know that you can relate in the way you described, thanks for your support. By the way I am a grandmom. Look forward to meeting you all in the flesh.
