Center Camp: Love the art, love the space, hate the commerce?
Create an alternative to the Center Camp Coffee Mafia. Set up a clearly labeled "Caffeination Station" in your neighborhood.
Set it up on a corner. Clearly label it. Neighborhood residents can bring brewed coffee, bagged coffee (for self-brewing), highly caffeinated cold drinks, etc. Meet your neighbors, while getting wired. Meet folks there, or leave behind an offering of C8H10N4O2 to be found later by a lovely, anonymous stranger.
Caffeination Station(s)
One idea I had (please feel free to steal away) was to set up a large 100 cup electric coffee maker connected to a deep cycle marine battery (with inverter of course). The battery would be charged with a car generator powered by a stationary bike. The idea is that you would pedal for a few minutes to help power the battery in exchange for your coffee. I was also going to buy a bunch of ceramic coffee mugs at garage sales through out the year and gift those out to the coffee drinkers. Also had an idea to put the whole thing inside center camp as an "art" installation.
actually I kind of feel the same way about ice - how about splitting camp Artica into 2 and putting them at 3:00 and 9:00. That way on average people would only have to travel half as far
I decided that this would be a good idea somewhere about 2:30 on the way home towing a dozen odd bags in a wagon when the catcalls from the camps I passed started getting a bit ugly ... I had this sudden horrible feeling I was going to get mugged for my ice ....

yeah, out at 10 we were hurtin for Ice! and I was kind of like, we brought this huge truck, we brought couches, and we have a huge generator for our sound system, Why not just bring a fridge? Not owning a cooler, I just didnt bring anything that needed to be cold, turned out to be a lucky break for me. I was fine, but the people who brought coolers were hurtin! Somebody actually abandoned a dead electric artcar at our camp and we said we were going to take it home and use it as an ice vehicle next year!
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.

Oh cool!
A use for the two commercial grade 55 cup coffee makers I got for free last year. I had to replace plugs, cords, and a resistor in them but the now work like champs. We've used them up here at work three or four times already with no problems what so ever. A doughnut frier.. hmmm I can come up with one of those I bet. Only problem is that all the Rangers, BLM cops, and local officers will be hanging around all the time....
