Virgin Burner from Sunny Malaysia

Post by Ka_ren » Sun Apr 24, 2016 5:42 am

Hey, everyone,

As I'm in the region visiting friends, so I've decided to extend my trip to make it to this epic event. No tickets, no transport, no tent, even. Lol. I'll make it work? I'll be a female traveling solo, so I'd be grateful for any tips or leads. I'm prepared to participate full tilt, so I'll be happy with anything thrown my way.

I'd also like to ask about volunteering for a project as I'm a graphic designer and creative director here in Malaysia. I may be of use to someone, perhaps? Do point me in the right direction. Always happy to help and excited to learn.

Woohooooo!!!! :lol:

Thanks for the welcome! (:
Yup, reading and watching everything I can get my hands on at the moment.

About tickets, if it's meant to be, it'll happen. (; hey, I'm flying halfway around the world...I reckon I should give it a go, at least. (;

Welcome Karen. Please read the info in my signature below. You WILL need quite a bit of preparation to make the trip to Black Rock City.

Hey Ka_ren!

You might be able to find an RV share here in the Rideshare/Share Resources forum, which might be nice if you're traveling light:

(Do your due diligence to assure yourself the other traveler is a sane and genuine person before riding with strangers.)

You could find Burners in the area you'll be in before the Burn:
http://regionals.burningman.org

Or might be able to enter the event via Green Tortoise or Burner Express buses if you do manage to pick up camping equipment.

Read the First Timer's guide and Survival Guide as recommended by Sham--you really need to know what you're in for. For example, you'll need excellent goggles, a coat good for cold weather (40F), really comfortable shoes, and 1.5 gallons of water per day.

You can do this; but it's a lot of prep. :)

Welcome!
