Cannabis is not my issue. But if it is yours, potential federal moves are afoot.
The justice Dept has said they will reclassify the schedule of Cannabis under federal law as soon as 2 months from now.
This article explains what that is likely to do and not likely to do: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_29735 ... -marijuana
Some schedules might make it "more" legal for medical purposes. Oregon Congressman Blumenauer is pushing the issue, requesting cannabis be completely removed from the schedule in this review. If that happened, it might be legal federally.

it'll be interesting when it does become "legal", the economic effects on places like where I live.
part of the price being so high, is that it's "illegal" and so, more risk is involved.
If and when, anyone can feel comfortable growing, it would seem the bottom will fall out of that market.
Our local county government just made it illegal, to grow "outdoors" and now states only indoor grows are ok.
This has had a direct effect on local businesses, in that so many growers and workers, were put out of business.

I posted earlier on the reevaluation of cannabis under federal rules to be a more mellow drug, or even a not-considered-to-be-regulated-drug.
If you are an online petition-signer-type, here is one organized by a US congressperson:
http://takeaction.earlblumenauer.com/cannabis
It's floating around on that congressperson's Facebook if that's where you prefer to refer.

Would it make things easier if labels were taken out of voter registration?
Imagine that when you register to vote, that you are just registering to vote, and then you get to vote for whoever you want.
No super delegates or other nonsense.
To simple???

I think you're confusing two different parts of the process. The Constitution requires a general election every four years and sets for the parameters for participation. As long as you legally qualify and register to vote, you are entitled to participate in the general election regardless of party affiliation or status.FIGJAM wrote:Would it make things easier if labels were taken out of voter registration?

Too simple???
Separately, in recent decades, the two main political parties have developed nomination processes that involve some level of primary voter participation. These are processes developed and run by the two political parties, not by the federal government. You are not Constitutionally entitled to participate in the primary nomination process. Rather, your state or territory political apparatus determines who can participate. Moreover, your state determines whether or not it is an "open" or "closed" primary, in other words, do you have to be registered to that party in order to vote in their primary.
For comparison, for the first two hundred years of our nation's history, the political parties simply chose the candidates without any voter input. I would argue that the current system, however flawed, beats the party bosses selecting the two political candidates.
If you don't like your party nomination process or the way in which your state allows you to participate, then get involved, write your state and local representatives, run to become a state delegate. It's as much a do-ocracy in the real world as it is at TTITD.

Looks like Trump vs Hillary. What a mess. Sad to think this is our idea of who we think would be the best leaders for our nation.

That is about right, and no matter who we chose,....we lose. But then again,...we did it to ourselves, so there we are.

Today many people get their news from comedy, because the news media is sad.
Here is one - a comedic fictional debate between actors playing Trump and Sanders:

the dems, are totally selling us all down the river:
they are wasting so much time, attacking Trump, in the primary: They won't vote for him, and their friends won't, either.
They are wasting time on Trump, time and energy that should be spent, getting Bernie past Hillary for the nomination.
There will be plenty of time for Trump, in the general.
But, if Clinton is the dem nominee, we are faced with choosing corn or grass, in the dog crap we are fed.
And for this, the blame lies squarely on the dems, for not supporting Bernie, and for allowing the corrupt national regime, to cheat, and support Hillary, no matter.

Here is a theory for consideration.
We have a federal system of courts, executive, and senate+representatives.
Same in each state.
If you believe in Bernie policies, you need to focus on the next 10 years or more in voting for those policies in your state and federal, executive, judicial, house/senate.
Really Bernie vs Hillary in the primary is a microscopic part of accomplishing Bernie policy. He will say that at the convention.

He could be the best choice we have, but the saddest part of it is, Bernie has no prayer. What does that say about us?ygmir wrote:Bernie is far from my ideal......he's just the best choice we have this time.
Then again, the question is rhetorical as look at what we have been electing. So is it really any surprise when our choices boil down to Trump or Hillary?
