Who's live now!

Post by DVD Burner » Tue Nov 30, 2004 6:29 pm

Sandwich and a few others d.j. and V.J. live every once in awhile and my site has a continuous stream of ministry of sound. It would be nice if whomever is doing it at the moment when they can, to post here so we can enjoy your flavors of the day.

sputnik is spinning right now.

http://68.43.1.143:8000/

enjoy! I sure am.

Thanks DVD, the current mix comes from a CD exchange that a friend of mine developed. He asks 20 questions that you need to match to the music of your choice. The questions for this mix are as follows:

01. Begin with a song that would play during the opening credits of a movie of your life, if the movie started today. - When I Go Out With Artists - Crash Test Dummies
02. Next, play an instrumental that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. - Follow Your Bliss - B-52s
03. Select a song that reminds you of a particular place that you would like to visit again. Montana – Venus Hum
04. Pick a song that was a Billboard Top Ten Pop hit on any of your birthdays. - Cars - Gary Nueman
05. Play a tune that you think is fantastic that most everyone has overlooked or forgotten. - Mono Luv - Moodorama
06. Select a TV theme song from a show you wish you could have been a main character in. - The Addams Family
07. Find a cover song that you simply can't believe exists. - Little Drummer Boy - Joan Jett
08. Next, give me a song that you would love to introduce a kid from the next generation from. - Trans Europe Express - Kraftwerk
09. What song is your "Chicken Soup For The Soul"™? Shake It Up – The Cars
10. Play a song that inspired you to make a creative work of some sort, and how it did so. – Frosti - Bjork (No piece of music has inspired me to create something, so this will do)
11. How about a song that you would play in a chase scene. - Above - Blue Man Group
12. Hit me with a song that you play when you're angry. - Morphine and Chocolate - 4 Non Blondes
13. Play a song that you have NEVER heard at a karaoke night. - Elvis is Dead - Living Colour
14. Find a great song by a person who isn't "known" for singing. Invisible Girl – Minnie Driver
15. Add a song by someone from a place that you've never visited. - Moments of Pleasure - Kate Bush
16. Choose a love song by the artist that is the largest part of your collection. If there is no "love song" then choose your favorite song. - Should I Stay or Should I Go - The Clash
17. Play a song you had searched a very long while to find. – Lounge - Esthero
18. Select a song that you think I wouldn't guess you like, but you do! - Home By Barna - Teresa Doyle
19. Give me a song you enjoy that one of your friends introduced you to. - I'm Bound to Pack It Up - The White Stripes
20. Finish with a song that will always remind you of this year. - Our National Anthem - Negativland
It's going to be alright.

Current Mix

Post by sputnik » Wed Dec 01, 2004 6:28 am

Today's mix is also based on a set of musical questions:

01. Your favorite song with the name of a geographic location in the title. Hello Cleveland – Mono
02. Your favorite love song that does not have the word "love" or "lover" in the lyric. These Foolish Things – Roxy Music
03. A song you listened to many times to help you through a depressing/sad time in your life. Tempted – Squeeze
04. A song you enjoy, sung primarily in a language other than English. Sympathique – Pink Martini
05. A song you like by an artist you usually don't. Detroit Rock City - Kiss
06. A song that you bought an album for, only to discover the rest of the album was horrible! Little Fluffy Clouds – The Orb
07. What song best sums up how you feel generally, right now? Revolution Earth – B-52s
08. Give me one song that your parents and you BOTH enjoy. A Taste of Honey – Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
09. A song that you think people would be surprised to discover you like. All the Things She Said – T.A.T.U
10. A "car tune," i.e. a song that would be perfect to drive to. Shake Everything – Maceo Parker
11. A great song by a group who have at least 50% female musicians. All You – Dido
12. A song that you never, ever, ever get tired of hearing no matter how often you hear it. Chorus – Erasure
13. Play a song that you imagine would be great background music for a fistfight. Shock to the System – Billy Idol
14. Your favorite song with a person's name in the title. Mister Marvin – Candy Dulfer
15. What song never fails to get you to play an "air instrument?" I Feel Love – Blue Man Group w/ Venus Hum
16. Your favorite song with expletives included. Being in Love – Meryn Cadell
17. A song you like by someone you find either physically unattractive or morally bankrupt. Hurt – Johnny Cash
18. A song you think is totally strange, but you like it anyway. A Most Successful Formula – Negativland
19. A song you searched for, forever, until you finally located it. It Won’t Be Long – Alison Moyet
20. A song you associate with the happiest time in your life (so far). Landslide – Fleetwood Mac Concert

Bonus Trax:

21. A song you either have had sex/masturbated to, or you imagine would be good for that. One Caress – Depeche Mode
22. A song that reminds you of spring, that isn't necessarily ABOUT spring. Viama - Moodorama
It's going to be alright.

Eastcoast daytime broadcasting shutting down in a few minutes. Expect to be back up for the evening in an hour or so at

http://68.43.1.143:8000

I'll be streaming some Blue Hawaiian Christmas music for a while and then something else. Probably one of the above mixes.
It's going to be alright.

Okay, I'll cut you some slack for that, althought I'd say he has a lot of character instead. He's the man in black! Can't be putting him down.

Anyways, on with the music, and thanks! I like the way you came up with the songlist.

What? <looks around> Is something on me?

BTW, nice to see that, not only did I gain a listener or two in the past 20 minutes. However, they did not last for the full 18 minutes of Chichibu-Yatai-Bayashi (translated as Rolling Thunder). Not an easy introduction to Japanese percussion. Just dropped off near the end there. I almost congratulated them for sticking with it.

Tonight I will play a piece that always makes me think of the Cantina scene from Star Wars.
It's going to be alright.

Radio is up at http://68.43.1.143:8000

Tonight's mix is based on what I've heard regarding musical preferences of many of the ePlayans I've been hangin with. Quite different from past mixes.
It's going to be alright.
