Playa Hands - Tips to treat (or avoid) playa hands

I have eczema and I used to work at a bakery and had to wash my hands frequently. My hands became super irritated, angry and red. I used tons of lotion every day and it didn't help. Finally, a friend recommended O'Keefe's Working Hands and it became my band's deliverance. You only need a bit on the worst part of your hands and it creates a protective seal. It soothes pain from cracks as well.

Some of my favorites: Dr. Palmer's cocoa butter lotion (it's crazy thick) and their solid tub o' cocoa butter (especially before sleep). Not too expensive, and it smells good.

This is in addition to the stuff like lemon juice, liquid bandage, and leather gloves even for short bits of work. (It never ends up being as short as one thinks. )

O'Keefe's Working Hands is capable of closing up deep, painful finger-tip cracks overnight. Nothing else that I know of will.
Plus it doesn't feel as though your hands are slathered with lard, you can still turn door knobs and handle glassware.

Speaking of gloves, this year I'm bringing some disposable nitrile gloves so that I can fill up the generator and not be afraid of ruining my other gloves with accidental sprays from gasoline. One year some gas got on my leather gloves, and that shit does that not come out. The second year, I was using mechanics gloves, which wasn't quite as bad, but still stunk of gasoline.

This year, however, I can at least toss the gloves if there is a mess, or give some to a friend so they don't get gas on their hands or gloves.

Bring some any gloves for the cold of the night too. This last year I went back to camp and was about to put on some socks as gloves, (freezing) until I remembered that I had some cheap, slightly small brown jersey gloves in the tool bag. Better than socks or nothing at all, they made the remainder of the night/ morning a bit more tolerable as I cruised the town.

Second on the gloves for cold weather! I remember having really cold hands while biking at night. My friend had brought along a pair of burned-out, ill-fitting, novelty "raver gloves" that we bought in our personal-LED-lighting binge that year. They weren't great, but were better than nothing. Later I found out that those gloves cost $10 a piece! That was far more than some decent leather gloves would cost.

Pro-tip for leather gloves: turn them inside out! They'll grip better, fit better, and be more comfortable.
