Happy weekend, Bar! It's a somewhat lazy Sunday for us, sticking around close to home and being loungey and lazy. Indulging in downloaded international cooking competition shows (the focus is on the food, and the contestants are all pretty good sports) and playing around with a couple art projects. I've still got a couple errands to run and some chores to do before a friends comes over for dinner, to better get running!

Congrats on the ESD signups, MDF!

Having avoided all things Burning Man last year, since we couldn't go, I have finally admitted it is time to get going on this year.

Hubby also got his ESD shifts in, I'm still waiting for my last FEMA cert, but will hopefully get that squared away shortly.

Panic is definitely starting to set in. We decided to do everything different this year and fly in (to save time) but that is much more complicated than anticipated. Started perusing ePlaya for info on BXB and advice on simplifying camp. Definitely giddy to be going back home, but anxious about being less prepared than usual. I normally don't start panicking till July...

I made progress on vehicle prep this week. Beefy alternator and battery installed by dealer. Car serviced but no smog check because their machine only tested 2000 or newer. I found a small shop that had a dynamo checker that I will visit next week. I checked with DMV for registration and limo had late fees. Bummer, no new landau roof for awhile. I have to pay fees to get temp. regis. to drive to shop for test, then back to DMV for tags. I also need to get a CDL physical for my class B License. New tires inflated but not put on car yet. Dealer said new tires were too small ? to install. 215 60 R 15 not 225 75 R 15. A set of highway tires on E-bay go for over $300.00, another wait for moolah... Another car prep week coming up. :coffee:

Thanks for all the good Birthday wishes. Been hibernating a bit as I turn 84. Never thought I'd get this far. Kind of a close call last year on the Playa, but all is reasonably good now. I did finally give up on trying to play competitive tennis and just notified all my tennis buddies that it will be mixed doubles with my dear wife from here on out. The legs just aren't there anymore. But hey, I really have nothing to complain about.

Yesterday I was at the annual preview of art on the Playa and those of you who will be on Playa this year will have one hell of a great treat! The 15 presenters showed some really exciting and truly amazing art. Bummer that I won't be there to see it!

Heading up to the SOAK --- the Portland Regional burn on the Memorial Day weekend. Will be seeing some of my Hushville buddies there, including the wonderful Little Flower, my special friend! Anne and I are making a nice road trip out of it with a stop at Wilbur Hot Springs and Ashland OR on the way up.

Anti M, hoping all is going well for you

Big hugs to all of you and again thanks for your kind remembrance of this old guy's birthday

oh Marty how wonderful to hear from you
Wherever you go your spirit goes with you and escalates accelerates forward
Because my vision is rather iffy I was riding around in one of your friends was driving me we both chuckled about your special attributes
And hey anytime you will let me ride around with you oh my God let me know because it's only the not being able to drive as much as I would like that tethers me
Love you all dear bar

dang, I like all flowers. and some are edible.
I guess I'd have to choose "the Golden Night Flower", because of memories.
I don't see an obvious choice for that in Google . . . (are you waxing poetic, or is it real?)

I'm a lilac kind of girl. I'm lucky enough to pillage the vacant lots near my home, which have traditional lilacs as well as white.

Morning, MDF, dives invitingly into the NEB to the strains of "Deep Purple". Come on in, the NEB is fine and the livin' is easy

I saw an article yesterday about what looks like a pretty amazing memorial happening today. At 3:07 PDT, radio stations across the nation will play Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" in his memory.

The timing is intentional. In Prince's original version, the opening line of the song goes "it's been 7 hours and 13 days, since you took your love away" - and 3:07PM PDT marks 7 hours and 13 days since he passed. In today's 'Burning Music Trivia' - in Sinead O'Connor's very famous version, the opening line is 7 hours and 15 days... she was reportedly superstitious.

In more bar-related news, we recently found and picked up 'cacao bitters' when we were at a favorite chocolatier in the mission. While it's made from the same stuff that chocolate comes from, it's not chocolatey at all... it's actually kind of citrus-y. I don't normally drink cocktails that use bitters, but now I need to start expanding my boozy horizons and try some stuff out.

Whiskey + soda water + bitters on the rocks is one of the best cocktails on this planet.

We had marble size hail yesterday in Reno, but so much so that highway 50 in Moundhouse and Dayton had to be cleaned with snowplows and sanded.
Hoping for more today and tomorrow.
