Leonardo Da Vinci Art Tickets

I've just gotten word that the ticket team will be enabling the functionality in completed Burner Profiles to allow people to purchase Da Vinci Art Tickets. There will be a button once tickets become available.

As per the posted ticket information, there will be 500 tickets at $1,200 each, plus applicable fees and taxes. You will be able to buy a maximum of 2 tickets and 1 vehicle pass. If you have already purchased any of these tickets in the Pre-Sale, you are ineligible from purchasing more. Vehicle passes may only be purchased in conjunction with tickets. Any orders in the sale consisting solely of vehicle passes will be canceled.

Some people I know have been able to purchase Vehicle Passes w/o the other pass. They're convinced they won't be cancelled despite all information online saying otherwise. What should I tell them?

Huh. I thought I saw that there was some sort of "No you can't do that" message if you tried in the pre-sale.

Although I guess it may have been the case but then when they had to allow the back door for pre-sale buyers who missed the chance to get a VP maybe they left the door open?

Since the waiting room worked so well who knows if there is an actual connection between the official statements and the ticketfly reality? If i hadnt purchased my VP togehter with the fucking $1200 ticket i would just try it. Whats the worst that can happen? The order gets cancelled and i am exactly where i was before?

I have been assured by the ticket team that the orders containing vehicle passes only will be canceled.... as has been posted here and elsewhere.

You're welcome to see it as you like or be as sad as you like. I thought the blog post on the subject made sense, and was a novel way to help offset the ever-increasing costs of staging the event without raising the regular ticket price.

The concept behind these tickets fits really well with this year's theme and the idea of renaissance arts patrons. I'm really interested to see how/if they make it work with future themes.

As long as these tckets are available it puts an effective cap on the resale price. However it does mean the tickets can be resold at $1200 without qualms.

A relative of mine purchased a DaVinci Ticket last month and now just purchased one regular ticket through STEP. ..But then I read that you can’t purchase a ticket through STEP if you’ve purchased one elsewhere... Is this an issue? Could it cause one of them to be voided?

Also, If she wanted to sell her DaVinci ticket before the event, I assume it’s ok to sell it at face value?

The DaVinci tickets were for people that could afford them and wanted to pay extra to support the event. Now that she got a cheaper ticket and wants to sell the "donation" ticket is like saying "fuck you I beat the system, go fund yourself."

That said, I'm sure there will be someone willing to buy it at face value.

I'm not sure about how the DaVinci tickets effect purchasing other $390.00 tickets and reading the burning man ticket page, it's not very clear. (at least not to me.) I'd tell her to email ticketing.

The Da Vinci tickets are still available directly fro the BM Org so I imagine it will be hard to sell, at least quickly. Why would you buy one from a random when you can get one from the org? Even the $990 tickets are going for less than face it seems.

This is a great point... I've never felt bad about how some people pay more in the presale and group sale and DaVinci tix... that keeps the cost down for the average burner. Every DaVinci ticket probably affords like 4 low income tix... that's great, the rich helping the poor...

And that's what the Renaissance in Florence was all about... the rich funding the poor artists... and that's how Burning Man goes, a lot of people put up big money and time to make this epicNess happen that the average person couldnt afford... and when we're in BRC, where money is no good, we're all equal.... We're all Burners...

So who cares who paid what for a ticket? Let's just Burn!

The Direct Group Sale tickets cost the same amount as General Sale tickets.

Also the extra cost of the Pre-Sale tickets covers the Low Income discount whereas the extra from the Da Vinci ticket goes to art.

No. Just no.
Reducing the Renaissance to that is like saying the Roman Empire was a bunch of rich guys in togas drinking wine for a thousand years. Sorry, that really chafes my history-loving ass. Even the part of the Renaissance that was about rich patrons funding artists (considered craftsmen at the time) wasn't to support the artists but to glorify the patron. Only a few artists broke through that to become our Da Vinci's, Michelangelo's, Titian's, Dürer's, Rembrandt's, etc - the vast majority were anonymous masses of toiling people. Like the guys you get to take your family photo in a strip-mall studio nowdays.
The past is never as pretty as we wish.
