on the long ride home
Once my friend Taica had stopped tripping enough to admit that, much to her disappointment, there were no miniature brontosauri in her Gerlach County Store sandwich, she began a conversation with the rest of us, the first she had had with us instead of just among us all day, about where BM themes come from.
During the seemingly endless drive to Vancouver (BTW thanks to all who insisted that it was "only a 12 hour a drive" - we stopped believing you after the sun went down on the next day) we started talking about our own theme ideas.
The only one that made it through the flight back to Montreal was the idea of "The Lost City" or some kind of Atlantis type theme. For a while between our fifth Denny's coffee stop and Seattle, we entertained
"At the Core" or "Beneath the crust" or some kind of actual under the ground theme. However we realized that not everyone might share our interest in geology.
I agree that hearing Born Slippy over and over again and probably seeing some people try to fuck in time to the song, would be reason not to have an "Underworld" theme. If that could be avoided, or at least ignored, the theme would probably inspire some incredible art.

i just have to brag.
okay. so i just have to brag for a minute: this is the second year in a row that i've acurately predicted the theme! go me! last year i said it would be 'space' and this year i predicted that it would be 'dreams' or 'the unconcious'.
burning man should hire me as their clairvoyant.
