Using horse trailer for supplies
Using horse trailer for supplies
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about using a horse trailer to bring supplies to burning man and possibly using it to sleep in? It is an aluminum enclosed trailer. Thank you for your input.

Horse trailers are nice and stout and easy to pressure wash the playa dust out of afterwards.
As for sleeping in one, horses do their business all over the floor all the time, so sleeping in it all depends on your tolerance level.

Do it!
We bought this steel 6x14 for camp gear last year and I'm planning on bringing it to serve as a personal kitchen/storage this year.
The plan is to wire the inside for 12V power and lights, add walls, shelves, water pump, etc,
I'm building a 4x8 rooftop carrier that will serve as a viewing platform once we're there.

I use this to carry horses, I suppose it would make a good Burning Man stuff carrier though. I still wouldn't wanna sleep in it, it gets epic amounts of horseshit deposited inside every time it goes out.

If you have a horse trailer, you may have horses. If you have horses, then you're accustomed to horse shit. I'd pressure wash it real good like, and let in dry thoroughly in the sun before loading it. Drape it with shade cloth, and call it home.
It may not even be noticable at all by the time you get to your camp, with the desiccant, absorbent playa dust and all... Kinda like putting an open box of baking soda in the fridge.
P.S. Throwing down a couple of rugs or a chunk of carpet would also make it more livable.

Hot tip: hit one of the online vendors of discount pond supplies and purchase one of the dechlor/binders (amquel, etc). Mix it 1:10 with water in a pump sprayer. After pressure washing the interior of the trailer, spray this mixture inside and let it sit for an hour, then rinse. It will bind any residual ammonia. Wont hurt metal. Non-toxic. And wont bother the horses the next time they are in the trailer either.

Just joe that's a sweet trailer. Do you have a camp mascot? I can offer you a cute little pony to adopt. She's 20 inches tall by 20 inches long and looking for a home. If you or anyone you know will be at the Hof I can bring her.
