Gears and Beers is back for 2016 and we are looking for more mechanically talented folks to add to our menagerie.

We are a camp dedicated to helping any and all the folks who have mechanical, electrical, and occasionally emotional problems on the playa as well as the proliferation of free beer. If you enjoy helping people, have a fair bit of common sense, and you are looking for a low drama camp, send us a note. We would love to meet you.

Very excited to have been accepted into the fold with "The south African". I've spent time in the desert 10 weeks in a tent in Namibia (Kalahari) dry, dusty and HOT , cold at night , building viewing platforms for a youth development charity. . The principal being, if you don't bring it , you don't have it. Can use most hand tools I am a tree surgeon so handy at rigging. I can bodge most mechanical failours that can be fixed with a BIG hammer. Oh and I LOVE beer .. See you in the dust ... email is [email protected]

As an speaker of the American dialect of our shared language, I am hoping that "bodge" means "to fix," rather than "to smash into tiny bits!"

Bodge means to repair with whatever works , adaptation and a big hammer ... Sometimes smashing to bits but not I repeat NOT intentional ... Seriously though reasonably good with mechanical items. I'm a tree surgeon and have to improvise a LOT when things break. Have done most building jobs as a contractor , plumbing , electrics, joinery, masonry and am competent with most hand tools from chainsaws to spanners.
