*pokes head in quietly, looks around*

Morning, bar! Anybody around? It's been a shamefully long time since I've stopped in....

Great day here yesterday, got the notice that my tickets have shipped AND my camp got our placement! (9:15 & H, come say hi!) This also means, however, that I am WAY behind on getting everything together, by which I mean I haven't even started yet. SHIT.

HI Madgirl!
long time no see!

congrats on all the TTITD news!!

nice here, starting to cool, might be under 100 today.
A wildfire started yesterday about 10 miles south, so, watching that. The planes are flying fast and furious. 400 homes are evacuated.

it's "that time of year" again......

Fuck the heat. Fuck the fires. Guess I should have posted this in the fuck thread. Finally under 90 inside my apt. Windows open, fans on. I got an oil change and tire rotation at the car dealer today, combined with a minor recall issue. I was there at 7:30, and waited two hours for their "courtesy shuttle" to take me home. So they threw in a detail on the interior, which took care of the Memorial Day playa residue... But I'm not ever going to spend that kind of time on an oil change again.

Cool drinks and and safety to those near danger.

Congrats on having gotten your tickets!

And fuck, Elorrum, that sounds fucking annoying! We passed near a fire on our way to Reno yesterday, and holy crap it was hotter'n hell on that drive through the lowlands. I got a burn on my left hand just driving with the window down. Fortunately for us by the time we got across the state line the temperatures had cooled down. We'll hopefully be on our way to Yerington (if not already there) by the time it starts to get really hot today. We'll be off and away from any signal (or desire to be online) until Monday. Have a great holiday and safe travels to anybody going anywhere!

Elorrum, I feel your pain. The last oil change I got at the Toyota dealership took all day and into the night. They shuttled me to work at 8am and picked me up at night. Never again!!

There was a fire here in town yesterday. I'll go find out what burnt down. Scary.

Well, it's fire season here too....the national forest/wilderness area to the north of us is blazing :( 12,000 acres and counting. Because it's in such a remote area they're not doing much beyond structure protection - sounds like the plan is to just let this one burn. This part of the state has been so lucky in the past few years, we were about due for a big one.

There's a fire a scant 20 miles from where our regional is held. Someone knocked over their charcoal BBQ grill. Grrr. One fire was about to be contained, when some damn fool flew a drone in. Three times. They are looking for them hard.

Hey peeps. It's sprinkling here. The firemen will love that. *Walks in dragging old Electrolux* Thought I'd just clean up a bit. *Turns on the behemoth and reaches into the corners with the ancient hose attachment.* There. Now I feel better. No time for a drink. I'm off to deliver muffins at the fire station. Stay safe. * Pulls the old vacuum out the door by the hose*

I had to buy a drain pan, wrench, and oil and do a fast emergency oil change on the side of the road on Saturday.
I was far from home and had a leak that let fuel into my oil, it's a very slow leak but I couldn't risk blowing up my brand new engine like that!

Checking the oil, the level had gone up a little.
I was watching for it, I had just changed fuel injectors and it's not uncommon to get a leak.

well good catch!!
I just changed the water pump/thermostat/main radiator hoses in my 7.3L F250. It was surprisingly easy, took me about 4 hours (not having done this one before) and saved me 500.00 labor! (the shop I use, when I have to, estimated it at that).
I don't begrudge anyone a living wage, but jeeze, if it took me 4 hours, it'd probably take them 2.
Or maybe I'm just getting old........

Don't make me chain it to yours and drag it backwards to Reno.

I got this postcard in the email the other day, threw it on my desk, and keep on reading it as Catacomb of Yells.

You have more truck than I do.

It wasn't meant to be criticism.

You had a chevy and decided to get something else.

Great, but so far, you've changed the engine, tranny, and injectors.

That seems like a lot to have to do to a new truck. :?

I got the short end of the stick on that cracked block, it's been replaced with a stronger one. Shit happens. Everything else I've done is upgrades, not fixing broken stuff. I want to get there, fast, while hauling shitloads of weight.
Leaving the weak-suck stock parts in there isn't how you do that, unless you're only carrying a playa pod! I could pull that with a Smart car.
