Bowie Band Needs Bassist/Bass Player

Post by Jainesy » Thu Jul 07, 2016 12:49 pm

Hey Kidz, our Bowie cover band has been rehearsing in San Francisco for a few months now preparing for the playa. We have seasoned drummer, keyboardist, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist and vocalist, and are sounding great... but we may need a bass player.

Do you love Bowie? Are you an awesome and experienced bass player? Are you easy going, intelligent and 100% reliable? Can you rehearse roughly weekly until the event in San Francisco? And...are you 100% going to the playa this year? Then send us note and let's get together!

A few other details:
* We are all camping in Lustre Village (Tazii and Glittercamp) and all have tickets. Ideally our bass player would camp with us (it's a wonderful drama-free veteran crew), but not required.
* We rehearse at Secret Studios near Potrero in San Francisco. No $ contribution for rehearsal space required.
* Some PA equipment would be a plus. We have some components but not all. We'll have a stage set up in our camp, with lighting, at 3:30 & D.
* We have gigs at 9pm on Tue, Wed and Thu on-playa.

Hope to hear from you soon!

WHAAAAAAT?! Very potentially interested. Can you PM me a setlist so I know what I need to learn? Assuming I'll be responsible for bringing my own equipment? If so, my participation is contingent upon me locking down a vehicle pass. If I have to take the burner bus, I wouldn't have a way to swing it.

If you're at all portable, come by and perform at the Eplaya Meet & Greet Wednesday evening (say around 7:00ish because by that time we'll be rather full) at Barbie Death Camp 6:30 and E. That would be pretty cool.

Ah, if only...we are booked that evening. We're not very portable unless you have PA, drums and amps. If so, maybe another time?

Thanks for asking. I love BDC!

Wow, I am so BUMMED I don't live in the bay area anymore. :(

Well, if you get there without a bassist I will be there and would love to do it. I could probably drive to SF for a rehearsal or two (I live in Chico). At least let me know where the shows are as my wife and I love Bowie!

I've taken my band out there in 2008-2012 and have sat in with many a band. I am a pro bassist, I did a full Bowie show 4 years ago as the lead guitarist (i love Mick Ronson).

So like I said, if you struggle finding the right guy, send me the song list. Sunday or Thursday evenings I might be able drive down. I have great powered monitors but I am not taking those to the playa.

I am a great backing vocalist, only an average lead vocalist.

I will be camping with Camp Upsie Dasium (7:30/A) and this will be my 16th Burn.

Good luck!

Hey Dude, turns out we're sorted. But...given your apparent stellar credentials, I hope you do come catch the show, and maybe sit in with us - bass, guitar, or jump on a mic for bvox!

We're doing three shows, all around 9pm:

- Tue night: Lost Penguin Cafe, 3:00/A
- Wed night: Lustre Village, 3:30/D
- Thu night: Lustre Village, 3:30/D

We'll be listed in all the guides as "David Bowie - Live Band", though we are called Ziggy Playadust (& the Seed Bugs from Sparks). Come by!!!

Great set of songs, one of my favs from the show we did a few years ago was I'm Afraid Of Americans.
I am guessing the Purple Rain is the Prince song, right?
