First time at the burn since 1996
First time at the burn since 1996
Going back for the first time since 1996. I attended 1992-1996 and if I have a claim to fame it's being the person that took the first sound system to Burning Man after meeting with Larry Harvey in his kitchen and pitching him on what a great idea it would be. Call me a jerk (if you enjoy quiet) or a seed planter on the other hand but we had lots of fun back in the early years. Wild West, very few rules and fewer police.
I'm going back this year for some self reflection, the last year has been pretty brutal. I moved from Hawaii to Vancouver BC and was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. Couple surgeries later I'm nearly back to myself but need to do something to celebrate being alive and Burning Man seems like something I want to experience again.
Here's a couple articles from last year that shout out to the early years and the seed planting I did and I'm eager to see where it's gone now!

Re: First time at the burn since 1996
Kraig23, Thanks so much for the walk down memory lane. I hope you're able to fully enjoy this years event. Try not to compare it to years long ago. Burning Man has become a wonderful vacation spot, way of life, temporary diversion or just about anything you want it to be. Enjoy the now.
I spent the summer of 1977 in Big Sur. We devised a way to live for free in Pfeiffer State Park. Going there now is different but still great.
Thanks again, really great pictures.

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome, Kraig23!
I'm glad to hear you're very nearly back to yourself, and I hope the Burn will be what you need to celebrate being alive.
