sounds interesting but out in the suburbs the beat of the inner camps is kind of like that already, You'd have to have your installation out by the trash fence for the subtlety to have a chance to be distinguished at all.

I've wondered if the wave reversal sound deadening technology could be used to create oddly quiet zones, this would be cool if you could mount the speakers on an art car skirting the esplanade across the road from the camps. I have know idea if this would work.

Well, imagine this ....

Imagine that every once in a while you hear something. Can't quite make out what it is .... if you have ever heard "In My Room" from the Upstairs at Eric's album from Yaz .... the little cut ... "what time is it" ... or one of the other little odd voice riffs (for lack of a better phrase).

Now imagine you hear that ... from time to time ... in different places ... and dont know what it is.

And then one night at 2 am you hear the whole song ... and it all falls into place.

It could be done as simply as playing it on a boom box as you ride a particular route on your bike at different times of day. or walk the route and play it at particular intersections.

Exactly .... or maybe you just hear a little tiny snippit of Led Zepplin, or something else that brings back a memory ...

Hey, hey, mamma .... silence

coo, coo, ca choo ... silence ...

Its really kind of a performance art piece idea.

you could even have a set particular set of movements you would do every time you stopped. or better yet different people doing the same thing. maybe three for four people each with a different route changing routes with each other.

But not real loud ... you are almost unsure if you even heard it ...

maybe ... something like ... Green Ginger ...

it can get really strange

It only all comes into place though on Sunday night, for the people that are left ... when all the songs are played in their entirety ... kinda loud.

I like it, simple to pull off ,cheep, fun, and it even works with the theme.

I think the trick would be not trying to bite off to much space keep it simple and modest in scope. I do like the idea of some kind of precisely timed thing, I don't know why.

What I would REALLY like to do is set up some platform out on the playa with speakers pointed out to the rest of the city to play the stuff to on Sunday night. It should be pretty easy since it will be pitch fucking dark, no moon at all .... I could get something out there on Sunday night after dark, start it off at very low volume, and slowly increase it over time ...

I need to set these gas heaters up in here ... it is FUCKING cold out here on the playa tonite!

Current weather is 17 degrees with freezing fog. You know what that means? AWESOME crystals of ice on all the guy wires!

Lows tonite are being forecast for 13 degrees. Better have your longjohns and a bag mate!

No flatter intended... it is the truth... you have amazing eyes... and I am going nuts trying to get to you to look at them... shit! You wouldn't think that Portland and Humbolt were that far apart... but the dollars say that they are... dammit!...

But, really... I am just about to pass out (waaaaaaaaay too much scotch tonight) and the battery on my cell phone is almost dead. *sigh* shit.... if only... some other night, mon cheri...

Just imagine this in your ear... "Ummmmm.... Tisha.... ahhhhhh... oooooohh... yes."

Goodnight, Darlin'... I will surely see you in my dreams... I hope I'm in yours......

Ya know BHA, ever since I saw that post about Paul Ruben... well now I am stuck thinking Bucket Head Herman, or maybe Pee Wee Alien.

Sorry man, but that was pretty funny.

Tony that's freakin funny. I can't remember whether I posted the mug shot, but maybe I will again for the hell of it. Pee Wee's making a comeback, I think.

Oh yeah the mug shot is there. That thread was just recently ressurrected. I forget which one. I can see the resemblance. Kind of. I mean it's not a bad thing. And at least you don't look like his peewee version. =)

He's actually a pretty cool actor. You see him in blow?
