Burner Express: To costume, or not to costume

Hey all,

I'm arriving via the Burner Express, and wondering if people riding in on the BXB tend to dress up or wear clothing better suited for a long bus ride/setting up camp once arrived. I guess this question can also apply to the general public, not just bxb'ers.

I'm thinking half function-half fun is the way to go!

I vote in favor of being as fun as you can, within reason. That said, it's important to remember that the bus will not be in BRC until after it gets through the gates - anything you consider wearing should be appropriate for rest stops (or shopping stops if you're on one of those buses).

I don't take Burner Express. I'm usually either driving my van or a rental truck. I generally go for burner casual, jeans or maybe my utilikilt, and a playa-riffic t-shirt. Either one I'd made from a past burn, or something from another project's fundraiser. I also have goggles and hat, and I keep my pod belt (utility belt) handy and put it on by the time I'm coming through the gates. That way, once I get parked at camp I can enjoy a celebratory drink and then if weather permits get to work on getting that first structure up. I save the fancier bits of playawear for after I've made a little progress.

Rebel514, I don't even go to the post office without a tutu. Yes! Dress the part but remember the weather.

Most people on the bus are dressed for setting up camps and to be comfortable on a long bus ride. Some are in all kinds of crazy costumes.
My guess is that you want to dress up or you wouldn't have posted . Wear what you want no one will give you any problems. Just remember you have to get to the airport to board the bus.
If someone does call you a weirdo or freak be sure to thank them for the compliment.
