Looking for someone to help perform a surprise vow renewal

Post by soaringDude » Mon Jul 11, 2016 5:43 pm

Hi folks,

This year is our 20th anniversary and my wife's first burn. I am planning a surprise vow renewal at the burn for us. Given it is a surprise and she won't be able to prepare, doing our own words is not really an option. I am am hoping to connect with some witty poet/speaker to perform the ceremony. Any suggestions on how to search? Anyone volunteers? It would mean a lot to me (and I am sure my wife after the surprise is over :D ).

Cheers,
soaringDude

Dude,

I may be able to help you with the 20 year vow renewal. I have volunteered my services with the Department of Wedding Planning to be an officiant for up to five playa weddings. My schedule for what weddings I will be involved with has not yet been established, so I can"t yet commit to helping with your ceremony for a particular day & time. But if you want to talk more about it go ahead and send me a pm and we can start a conversation and see if you think I would be the right person to help out.

Btw, I know some women who really absolutely hate surprises and would not react well to something like this being sprung on them (to the point where it could jeopardize their burn). I trust that you know your wife well enough to not find yourself in the midst of a spousal playa fight over your otherwise romantic intentions.

Me, I am from Southern California and became ordained with the Universal Life Church back in 1996 so I could minister to the needs of my many friends who had no one else to turn to for help with their ceremonial needs or general spiritual issues. I wish you and your wife the best in the next 20 years and hope you both have excellent burns this year!

If you'd like something whimsical, I've done Elvis weddings out there, completes with songs. PM me if you'd like to explore that

I'm giving this a nudge to the Q&A board, since that's a better fit for general preparation questions (including wedding threads). You may want to check some of the other threads on the subject, there are a few different discussions on the subject of officiants and speakers, photographers, etc. Good luck!

So sorry for responding to your comments so late. I had turned on notification on the thread and was expecting email when there was a reply. Not sure what went wrong but I didn't get any.

Blue_Bike & Dr Helix, thank you very much for the offer. I will send you a private message and see if we can get something arranged. Thanks again!
