Vehicle Pass for School Bus?

Post by Rileywaff » Wed Aug 03, 2016 7:54 pm

Hello,

My friends and I are riding into the playa on a big school bus, and we planned to park it on our campsite and have a few people sleep in it. Does anyone know if this type of vehicle needs anything other than the standard vehicle pass?

Thank yoU!

Please be sure that the old school bus is not dripping any fluids or oil from the underside. If there are any drips, you will need to put a mat of some sort underneath. Yes, the BLM checks for that stuff and we really must work hard to keep the playa with no trace.

Large tarps staked down in the parking spot slightly larger than the bus should do the trick. You may consider small pieces of plywood under the tires to prevent really hard tire imprints that stay after you leave. That may be overkill but I intend on doing it in the future. Having a few buckets is never a bad idea.
