Gifting Frozen (ish) mixers
Excited for my first burn and am looking forward to camping at Hushville.
I was thinking of bring mixers to gift to the local bars. In order to save space and gift the mixers at an extra-cold state I was planning on freezing the bottles of juice (or whatever) and using them like frozen water jugs in my cooler. This would be an alternative to using frozen juice concentrates (which could still be an option).
To keep the bottles intact during the freezing process, I'd have to pour a little out to make room for expansion. Does this pre-opening of the bottles prevent the bars from being able to use them in adherence with permit and safety handling requirements? I can always bring unopened room (playa) temperature mixers, but I thought pre-chilled drinks would be nice later in the week.

It seems that this is my circus, and apparently those are my monkeys.
I'll get the net.

I would much rather accept an unopened room-temp container than a cold but opened one. In fact I'd never accept that. People have ice.

Re: Gifting Frozen (ish) mixers
Very few people, and fewer bars, will accept an open container from someone they do not know. Frozen concentrates which require mixing? Not so great. Messy and fussy, and requires them to use their water.
We bring shelf stable juice in bottles, unchilled. One of those and a gift bag of ice go much farther for a bar. We are freezing juice pouches, but those are single serve.
Hey, we're in Hushville too!

Re: Gifting Frozen (ish) mixers
Wouldn't it be easier to do what Barbie Death Village does and simply bring a large container of liquid nitrogen? That will freeze anything from grapes to gin in a matter of seconds. Problem solved!

The Captain is right on the mark. Only sealed bottles or containers should ever be offered to a bar. We could explain why, but that would really be a waste of time.Captain Goddammit wrote:I would much rather accept an unopened room-temp container than a cold but opened one. Ditto what everyone else has said. If you want to gift cold drinks, do unopened mixers and a bag of ice to go with.
The playa isn't "home" to anything or anyone, it's not magic, it's just a goddamm camping trip. A really awesome one. -Captain Goddammit

Thanks for the feedback. Makes sense, without knowing the source an open / tampered with beverage container could cause ... "Problems." I'll just save the frozen ones for camp enjoyment and bring extras for gifting.
I look forward to meeting you on playa AntiM. Reading your posts over the last year or two is one of the reasons I learned of and chose Hushville.

What if I write on the bottle "Contains no Roofies!"
