What is in your 'easy access emergency travel' box

Post by Ratty » Sun Aug 14, 2016 9:14 am

Plan for things to happen. You may be organized but when the unexpected happens will you be ready? What do you carry in the vehicle that is easily accessable, to make your trip safe and enjoyable? Don't get stuck in a 10 hour traffic jam with no water or pee bottle. Don't arrive in the dark with no lighting. What do you carry?

All the documents
A small cooler with some beer/soda to gift gate/greeters.
Blanket/pillow in case the yurt doesn't get set up on first day and I have to crash on the couch
I keep my coolers at the back of the truck so food/drink is easy to access
Sweatshirt
Headlamp
Pee funnel/bottle
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Good points Ratty. This sounds like my front seat (when I keep it in the car) I would add goggles, dust mask or bandana, hat, maybe work gloves. but I guess those are all in your go to backpacks (I'm certain they are.)

After not thinking of this my first year I have the NEED IT NOW Shoulder Bag:)

Googles - Dust Masks
Flashlight - 1 El Wire -
Chap Stick - Tums - sun tan lotion
1 ply toilet paper for those dusty gate roads
Water
Tickets- and Monkey hut instructions ( still cant do it by memory lol)

These essentials keep my mind at ease until we unload the car.
Also I make sure my belt is ready to go so If i need to hope on the bike I have all I need.

Great suggestions in your bag though that I might need to add to ours

I keep a stash of redbull in my drivers side door pocket. Nothing wakes you up like hot carbonated energy drink, lol.

Ratchet straps, tools, duct tape.

I'd say that burners are the most prepared travelers on the road, since they're carrying enough to deal with the extreme emergency that is Burning Man itself. The best way to be prepared for road problems? Have a way to access as much of your packed gear as possible.

This is not an emergency list, it is a BRC ingress list!! And it is good.

Add sunscreen, moisturizer, analgesics, binoculars (for fun), camera/mobile device camera. Extra sunglasses and extra prescription glasses if needed. Electrolyte replacements.
