Hello,
We are coming down from Alberta, leaving Saturday morning. I expect to be around Cedarville or Alturas on Sunday night, and then make the final push into the city on Monday. Any recommendations for places to stay around there Sunday night, or am I expecting that everything will be fully occupied with everyone else doing the same thing?
Thanks!

http://www.eaglesnestrvpark.com/ & http://www.summerlakehotsprings.com/. You really should not be considering anything else. They are camping and there is always room. They are popular with burners.

Thanks, the second one looks possible if I take a bit of a different route. I was thinking 395, but maybe not the best route.
The first is a bit too far West I think. For the summer lake one, is that two far from black rock to get there on Monday morning?

Summer Lake Hot Springs is a 3 1/2 hour drive to the 447/34 junction by Gerlach. So close.
They are also popular outbound. Cedarville is always good useful for simple foods and their small grocery. 447 from Cedarville is not congested like 447 from Fernley to Gerlach, but it has enough burner traffic someone will be by if you need assistance.
Don't crash into a cow in the open range part of 447 and don't swerve for jackrabbits, many people have lost control and severely crashed their vehicles doing that.
There is a fire near Summer Lake - call the campground to check if it concerns you. You can also keep an eye on https://tripcheck.com/Pages/RCMap.asp# and http://gacc.nifc.gov/nwcc/information/firemap.aspx.
Some of that route is covered by http://www.gwally.com/directions/.
