Sam, the Scottish take their drink properly with a dash of water. Just enough to disturb the surface and release the fruity aromas.

btw, my middle name is Duncan

I've always called it 'releasing the essence' of the liqour...

but I do the same thing. three drops of water off my pinkie into my drink, and the essences, they do be released!

speaking of releasing the essences, this for all you depressed northwesterners... the brand names really aren't as important as the herbs in them:
Gaia Herbs' Phyto- Proz Supreme : This compound synergistically enhances emotional well being. While some of these formula's herbs specifically build and support nervous system function, others address anxiety. Some also act to support the function of the adrenal gland and its production of stress hormones. The herbs combined in phyto caps in this formula are St. Johns Wort, Kava Kava, Shizandra berry, Eleuthero root, Passionflower vine, Wild Oats milky seed, Gota Kola, Prickly Ash, Nettle and Calamus
Herb Pharm's Nervous System Tonic Tinture : While this compound has a mild sedative action, it primarily serves as a restorative tonic to the entire nervous system. This formula combines Skullcap, Oats milky seed, St. Johns Wort, Celery and Lavender further enhance this formula.
i take the second one religiously all winter and MAN does it help! that and good/regular lovin's keep the blues away fo SHO!

man toy
oh, I do. but he's more than just a toy, and currently we've been hitting some snags... they're working themselves out, but it's making the intimacy thing a little more difficult right now. Besides: my drive's so high... I haven't met anyone yet who can keep up...

*sigh*

when the winter duldrums strike...

Serotonin synthesis begins with the amino acid tryptophan. The next step in serotonin production involves an enzyme named tryptophan hydroxylase. Tryptophan hydroxylase adds a hydroxyl group to tryptophan, creating 5-hydroxytryptophan. Another enzyme, amino acid decarboxylase, removes a carboxyl group from 5-hydroxytryptophan, leaving 5-hydroxytryptamine, or serotonin.
