Vertical plywood, staking it down?

I've got a vertical sheet of plywood that needs stakes/rebar/lagscrews at the bottom to attach it to the ground. What's a good interface between the stake and the sheet? So far my best idea is to use perforated steel angle, with one side screwed into the plywood and the stake going through the other side of the angle.



PS: Please, no inquiries about how the top is secured, or wind, etc.

That angle iron looks pretty good but you could go even simpler, put an eye bolt at each corner (and one in the middle if needed). Size the eye bolt to accept your lag screw but smaller than the head.

You said not to talk about wind, so I can't tell you why it will do this.

No, I guess not. Wind applys force to the plywood which is amplified by leverage.

Seriously though, a vertical sheet of plywood will act as a sale and the leverage will break the joint at ground level. Could you use an A frame, screw the plywood to the A frame and lag the frame to the playa?

We use four t-posts, pictured above. Two per side. Drill the plywood out and tie it to each post. No failures so far.

Bringing a t-post pounder and a puller are mandatory.

Fun story about t-posts...

Last year I pulled the base of a t-post out of the ground near an intersection, with what was probably 3 years of rust on it. It had apparently been broken off the last time the city was in the same spot and overlooked by DPW. My favorite BRC souvenir

Follow up: I ended up not attaching the base of the plywood at all. Instead, I wrapped the bottom in tape to avoid splinter moop then attached two 1" wooden dowels behind the vertical edges of the plywood. I sunk two lag screws with chain links about 3.5ft apart and attached those to eye screws in the dowels near the bottom and top, making a bit rope X across the back of the plywood. This worked very well.
