The Victrola is a stationary art installation, and it's pretty damn cool!
A-Rock really fucking brought it!! The Bonerpillar ROCKS! It's cooler than expected
BIG too.
I'm getting to the I've-had-enough-of-this-shit stage about now. I get real tired of dealing with ass wipes out on the playa. I thought it was gonna be some eplayan I was gonna get into it with but it's been random playa asshats.
But other than that it's an awesome year. Weather has been very good, the night time temps have not been the freezing cold that was predicted, daytime hasn't been too hot, there's been dust but there always is.
I tried to post video of the Koi Pond but I can only hit cell service super late at night and the signal isn't good enough for video.

The Dancetronauts are here... I still think they're douche bags. They think they are the greatest thing in BRC, but their rig kinda sounds like shit compared to all the other big soind cars. They haven't got the bass the good ones have and they have to much ear piercing midrange and it's not as clear as the others. Robot Heart is here and while they aren't nearly as loud as the rest they have amazing sound quality. There are others and I don't know their names but they are just ridiculous!!!

I made a late, somewhat breif appearance at the meet & greet, saw Jackass, Bbadger, Elliot, Ygmir, and a few others.
Sparr wasn't there.

Elliot's whole camp was over here for dinner earlier this evening. Unjonharley is here pretty much every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner... smart man, we got good food.

The Man was only up a couple days, they were late getting it up and started tearing things apart Friday to prepare for the burn.
"Cartwheel Man" was a big fail. The engineering was lousy and the driveshaft broke when they tried to rotate the screwy thing.
Well off to sleep, it's almost 6:00 AM and I've just come in for the night. Cuz, BRC.

Thanks for the report, Captain. Been watching the Youtube live from the Playa and that's been neat. Not there, but have the taste of it. Usually I leave on this morning of the Burn. Easy to get out with almost no wait. Always feel refreshed and free when I hit the black top after the exhilaration of about 10 days on the Playa. Always had been a really magical experience for me. Going out by Air Ambulance last year put a bit of a damper on things, but my feelings about the Playa time before that was no less magical. So thanks again, Captain, your comments and report are appreciated.

Huzzah! my friends, Huzzah!

The Man has burned. All the bad luck from this year has burned.

It's the New Year! It has begun; and good luck to us all...

Raise your glass and toast the new beginnings! Be creative and compassionate because the Great Wheel ever turns, spinning forever towards endless eternity.

Whoa...

For those of us that have been to see the elephant before , but for one reason or other, not been there this week: Well, we keep it in our heart... Sometimes the flame burns bright, where ever the fuck we are.
Burners BURN... Burn bright and true.

I'm gonna have another drink.
And make plans... Heh, heh, heh.

Ever: Love and Kisses

Well here's a first hand man burn report:
Holy fucking shit!!
Most of us rolled out around 5:00-ish. Things were great, weather was nice and cool. Then, there was this DARK brown cloud of dust coming from the direction of the airport... and it looked bad. Well the wind changed direction and the cloud got here and it was the thickest "brown out" conditions I've seen. It was blowing hard, you couldn't see, it was a pretty epic opening ceremony for a man burn. It must have SUCKED to be out there on foot.
We battened down the hatches in the Land Yacht for the duration. I had Unjonharley aboard as well as Ranger Magnum, and about 8 others.
The weather cleared for the burn but it stayed kinda chilly tonight.
The freekin Dancetronauts rig has been out and about and god damn it sounds like shit.
The reigning king of big sound MVs has got to be the Mayan Warrior. I cannot even start to describe it. That thing has the loudest, clearest, most bass, most awesome display of lasers and fire and lighting effects.. all I can say is a bunch of superlatives.
Well it's almost 4 in the morning and I'm too old for this shit, gotta pass out.

Again, thanks, Admiral for the report. Saw the Man Burn on the webcam. Felt like I was there, only a bit more comfortable here at my computer. You rock!

Yeah, Catman, the year now begins. Got to get ready for the SF Decompression on October 9th!!! What to wear???

Amsterdam Flag is about three kisses as sometimes used in A'dam.

I was indeed wondering why the flag was hoisted on the side, but this makes it somewhat clear.

Anyone have any news of Patsh? She's late with her after-burn report.

I'm hoping that means she's still out there having fun -- or maybe Reno-ing with friends, having fun -- or any old type of funhaving, really...

Hi Delle Just read about very long wait to get off the Playa. Maybe Patsh was tangled up in that. Even going on right now I understand. A friend just told me last night that it took her 9 hours. Let us know when you find her. She is a jewel

I was sad to miss the reddit meetup due to a scheduling mistake on my part. Was there also an eplaya meet and greet separately, or the same event?

That said, I spaced it out, thinking it was held on Thursday. I can really kick myself in the ass because I saw Captain Goddammit cruising up 6:30 towards BDC on Wednesday night and didn't stop him to chat.

Side note.... For those of you wondering if Sparr is a real person, he is. I had a random encounter with him during my seven hour Exodus yesterday. He was wandering around between pulses with a spray bottle offering "vinegar for your hands". Very burner-like.
I took him up on it and proceeded to chew on my fingernails. Kinda like munching on a salad. Thank you, sir.

I agree with CG on the Mayan Warrior. Clearly the finest I have ever heard. I have a lot of HD vids of it. Awesome. Root Society stepped up again this year with a super sound as well. The Man? Meh. Seen better. That Sat eve. brownout was like I have never seen before. I finally arrived back here after 3 days driving 3,000 miles. Worth every minute. The M&G was fun, saw a lot of old friends. Overall, a great burn. I had many "playadipity" situations, all good. You cannot save your life, you have to spend it. Thank you to you all.

Well I'm still here in BRC. I'm out on H street about 4:45. Elliot is over in his bus a hundred yards or so away. It's been white-out all day. Ranger Magnum is still here, over at Tokyo. I'd have moved over there but you can't see a fucking thing. Hell I'd LEAVE if I could but there's no way.
We're good, we have fuel for the generators, food, booze, water, and even internet via cell service. The margaritas are flowing, the camper is all cleaned up inside, the Land Yacht is up on the trailer, so... here we are.

We're eating chicken and fresh mushrooms with French mushroom wine sauce with loaded mashed potatoes. The dust let up and it's a beautiful night on the playa.
We're all showered up, things are good way the fuck out here in the middle of nowhere.

Rhino here and in transit, still.

I'll be pretty busy for a while with the PhD matriculation this fall. 3 hours of research to start, then full-time starting in the spring. Took two more samples of dust from the BRC area, and filled up a notebook full of notes and ideas. Then, I stopped in Winnemucca for the area's BLM office on my way here (Evanston WY tonight) so I could communicate with them re: data sharing. They were clueless (typical) but I agreed to keep them up to date on progress.

Left BRC at 3{00 Tuesday after LNT, and stopped at Oasis 29 on the way south. The lady who runs that operation is Navajo/Paiute, but mostly Paiute (family relationships can get complicated) and she taught me a new phrase in Paiute meaning "See you soon". It's what they say when they want someone to return, and she said it to little ol' me. I was humbled and honored. Love of BRC extends far beyond its borders.

I'll see you all in about 3 years, if not sooner. Love and blessings.
